Washington. Though every official of the United States government has been cautioned to maintain absolute silence while the plans of the Washington Wash-ington administration for solving the Mexican problem are worked out, it became known from many well informed in-formed sources on Sunday that a supreme su-preme effort is being made to bring abut General Victoriano Huerta's retirement re-tirement from the provisional presidency presi-dency of Mexico. It is the belief of the administration administra-tion that any plan for a constitutional constitution-al election in Mexico depends on Huerta'3 elimination, and some declaration dec-laration from Huerta now is awaited. The future policy of the United States is 'being quietly and informally made known in diplomatic circles abroad and there- are intimations before be-fore many days foreign governments generally will have been apprised of the American attitude. It is unlikely there will be any publication of the American policy until Europe haa been formally sounded out. What the United States desires, it is believed, is that the powers shall Indicate their support of its efforts to solve the problem before it approaches the Mexico City administration in a final effort to secure the elimination of Huerta. , |
