Show Spring City f J Maria J. Allred Will Be 84 Next Tuesday The family of Mrs. Maria J. Allred will observe her eighty-fourth eighty-fourth birthday February 15. She is the- daughter of Danish-Norwegian Danish-Norwegian parents, Neils H. and Anniken Eversen L. Borresen. When an infant of two months the Black Hawk war came. Mrs. .Allred is a faithful member mem-ber of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her more active years she was an ardent church worker, an early . Ward choir member, a teacher !? in the Primary, also in the j Sunday School, a member of the Xf t MIA and a Relief Society visiting teacher. At present her inter- ests are temple and genealogical j work. Her early skills and ac- tivities were carding and spin- ning, knitting and sewing of burial bur-ial clothing. Among her treasured memor-I memor-I ies is seeing and listening to the I words of prominent church lead- ers, Brigham Young, John Tay- I lor, Wilford Woodruff, Lorenzo Snow, Joseph F. The .Ward Sunday School under un-der the direction of Supt. Rudolph Ru-dolph Hope have two departments depart-ments making a trip to the Manti Temple Tuesday afternoon after-noon for baptism work for the dead. Teachers, Mrs. LaVee Draper and Mrs. Vilate Hope accompanied ac-companied the boys and girls. The North Sanpete high school presented the opera "Maritana" Wednesday evening in the Ward recreation hall. Music instructor instruc-tor at the high school, E. B. Terry, Ter-ry, directed the opera. The Ward Sunday School will hold their annual Valentine 1 dancing party in the Ward recreation rec-reation hall, Monday evening Feb. 14. The Sunday School superintendency, Rudolph Hope Lewis Allred and Royal Allred are in charge. Candy and other goodies -will be sold at the dance. Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Larsen have received word of the birth of a new grandchild. The baby daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Warren Richard Neilsen at Miiford. Mrs. Neilsen . is the former Maurine Larsen.' This is the third child of the Neilsens. Odell Blain and Mrs. Bertha Blain were visitors in Salt Lake city Saturday and Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Py-per. Py-per. Mrs. Odell Blain and Mrs. Lila Lee Dahl, visitors for the past three weeks at the home of the Pypers returned home. Mrs. Lola Watson has returned re-turned home from a recent trii to Salt Lake city and Provo. She was accompanied home by Mr and Mrs. Harry Startup of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sorensen and Mrs. Hyrum Sorensen were visitors visi-tors at Richfield Tuesday afternoon. after-noon. Mrs. Vincent Major is visitinp at Riverton with her daughter Mrs. Geniel Burr who is very ill. Spring City MIA basketba'J team played at the Round Robin at Salina Tuesday and Monday evenings. The Monday evening game played with Aurora was won tn the Southern team by a score of 55-34. Accompanying the boys were coach Cutler Schofield, Bishor and Mrs. Reid H. Allred, Virgur Osborne MIA president, and Mrs Osborne, Mr. and Mrs. Royal All red, Mr. and Mrs. Udell Christen sen, Glen and Leo Osborne. The team playing were Ner' Allred, Ruel Allred, LaVor Jensen, Jen-sen, Kenneth Osborne, Eug3ne Terry, Lamonte Christensen Francis Schofield, Kenneth Howell How-ell and Fergus Thompson. Jeddie Neilsen assisted the boys an' coach. Mrs. Olive Coleman has received re-ceived word of the death at Price of her brother, Silas All-red. All-red. Mr. Allred was formerly of this city and was a son of John F. and Mary K. Bunnell Allred. Funeral services will be held in Price Friday. |
