Show National Award Established For Best U. S. Wheat To encourage American fanm-ers fanm-ers to -grow better wheat for the benefit oi1 agriculture and the milling industry, Philip W. Piilsbury, promirierlt MiiniJeap-olis MiiniJeap-olis flour milling executive, has established a national prize for the best wheat grown in the United States. The wheat 'will be selected from samples of all varieties exhibited ex-hibited at the International Grain and Hay Show which opens op-ens in Chicago November 29tih, it .ms stated todjav bv M. K. jParikhurst, superintendent of the show, who announced the .newly established Pillsibury prize. The 'winner of the prize will be the first American wheat king to be picked at the Chicago Chi-cago show which, draws entries L'rom all the large wheat producing pro-ducing states as well as several ! Canadian provinces. In previ-' previ-' ous years, Canadian wheat growers have taken premier honors, there having been no rational prize for the best wheat produced in this country. Noted judges of small grain, including three Americans and one Canadian, 'Will select the prize winning wheat. They are, B. R. Churchill, of Michigan State College, E. D. Holden of tine University of Wisconsin, E. M. Norcross, North Dakota deputy dep-uty seed commissioner, and James Laughland of the Ontario On-tario College of Agriculture. The new inational 'Wtheat prize consists of a huge urn-like trophy tro-phy capable of holding the wheat exhibited, payment of (fifty dollars for the winning sample, and expenses covering a trip to ClA'ago to receive the award which will be made by . the donor Friday, December 5th at the International Ampitheatre in the Union Stock Yards in Chicago, it was announced. |
