Show Members and guests of the Bountiful Narfe group held their annual summer picnic Monday at 2 p.m. at the South Bountiful Park with President Horten Hess presiding. MRS. HORTEN Hess and Mrs. Chris Stenberg assisted with refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Barlow furnished a bowl of petunias for the centerpiece. This was presented to Mrs. Paul Boyer, wife of the state president, Paul Boyer, who were both special guests at the party. Box chicken lunches, ice cream, homemade cookies and punch were served to 35 members, guests and guest artists. MR. BOYER reported on National Narfe legislation and outlined plans for the state convention. He gave each member a booklet entitled "Once In a Lifetime." This is published by the National Narfe organization. It outlines benefits and activities activi-ties for retired federal employees. Mr. Boyer urged all members to write their congressmen an appreciation letter for their support of Narfe. He also told of an NBC broadcast which will occur on Aug. 13. Joseph Anderson was in charge of the musical program. He introduced Mrs. Carl Hansen who presented her four children, Tony, Laurie, Amy and Eric who entertained the group with vocal and instrumental music for a half hour. They told patriotic pa-triotic skits, presented the Allegiance to the Flag in song. They sang solos, duets, trio and quartets. Tony accompanied ac-companied the group on his electric guitar. Their costumes cos-tumes were made by their mother. There are two other children in the Hansen family, a three-year-old boy and a two-week old baby sister. The mother directs the group. The group closed the program by singing "The Circle of our Love" from the musical production "Saturday's "Satur-day's Warriors." blm |
