Show FOUNTAIN GREEN I By Special Correspondence Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Mikkelson have received word that their son First Lieut. Elwin Mikkelson, Cadet Ca-det Instructor at Marfa, Texas, has been transferred to Roswell, New Mexico. Mrs. Nettie Bigler entertained at a birthday dinner Friday afternoon after-noon at her home. The Stitch and Chat club members were her guests. Bishop and Mrs. Gayle Yorga-son Yorga-son and children, Blain and Judy were Salt Lake City visitors during dur-ing the week. Mrs. Ruth H. Rigby, who has employment at Clearfield. Utah visited during the week with relatives. rel-atives. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Rasmussen are receiving congratulations on the birth of their first grand daughter born Saturday, July 8th at the L D S hospital. The parents par-ents are Mr. and Mrs. Austin Mangelson of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Lucile Painter of Santa-quin Santa-quin has returned home to remain re-main with her parents while her husband is in the U. S. Service. Mrs. Perry Blackham of Moroni is visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Ja-cobsen. Ja-cobsen. The Misses Thelma Johnson and Camille Rosquist, who have employment in Salt Lake City, visited at their homes during the week. Miss Doris Rasmussen is visiting visit-ing with relatives in Salt Lake City. A dance, under the direction of the City Officials and the American Ameri-can Legion, will be given Wednesday Wed-nesday evening in honor of the following inductees, who will leave for U. S. Service in the near future: Van Livingston, La Drue Holman, La Faun Gee, Walter Johnson, Ross Stillwell and Duane Green. Mrs. Henry Christensen of Mt. Pleasant is visiting for a few days with her sister, Mrs. Lottie Bills. The Moroni West Mard, under the direction of James Prestwich, presented a Pageant portraying the Martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph Smith in the Fountain Green Ward Sacrament meeting Sunday, June 9th, that was very much enjoyed by all present. At the tea given by Mrs. Clark Cook in honor of her daughter, Mrs. Grant Jensen, the former Miss Edna Ccok. Tiie bride wore a beautiful white model with high neck line and long sleeves. Assisting in receiving were the Misses Marcelline Bailey, Betty Jean Despain, Ada Everett, Le Ila Christensen and Gra"e Bruno of Moroni and Janet Crowther of Fountain Green. Mr. and Mrs. James Bills re-eived re-eived word Tuesday that their. son, Pvt. lc Boyd Bills had landed in New Guinea. The marriage of Seaman 2c Glen C. Oldroyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee J. Oldroyd of Fountain Green and Miss Ida Blackham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Emer-son Blackham of Moroni, took place Tuesday, July 11th in the Manti L D S Temple with Pres. L. R. Anderson officiating. Glen has completed his boot training at Farragut, Idaho and is now ready for further U. S. Service elsewhere. Mr. Wilford Anderson is seriously seri-ously ill at his home. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery. recov-ery. The R. P. Larsen Reunion Held Sixty-two descendants of the late R. P. Larsen held their reunion re-union Sunday, July th in Salt Creek Canyon. New officers were installed and a very fine program was enjoyed. Five special guests were present. Gloyd Anderson In South Pacific "Somewhere in the South Pacific," Pa-cific," Gloyd Anderson, former employee of the Anaconda Copper Cop-per and member of the CIO union there, is among the personnel per-sonnel of a station hospital here. Pfc. Anderson entered the army in June 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Barkely, Texas. He is a medical technician. tech-nician. ' Prior to coming overseas over-seas in January of tihs year, he was also stationed at the Desert Training Center, and Camp Crowder, Missouri. Pfc. Anderson attended Fountain Foun-tain Green Junior High School and Moroni High. He is a member mem-ber of the Mormon Church. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Anderson of Fountain Green, he has a brother in the navy. |
