Show ' SPRING CITY ! By Special Correspondence Funeral services were held Friday Fri-day afternoon at 2 p. m. in the ward chapel for Mrs. Emeline M. Blain, wife of John S. Blain. Bishop E. B. Terry conducted the services and the Jacobs Mortuary Mor-tuary of Mt. Pleasant was in charge of the burial. Music was furnished by the ward choir and was conducted by chorister, Mrs. Rose Schofield. The choir sang, "Resting Now From Care and Sorrow," and "Memories of Galilee." Mrs. Roland Ro-land Bagnall of Chester sang, Oh! My Father," and a vocal duet, "Till The Resurrection Day" was sj-ng by Mrs. Jessie Schofield and Bishop Terry. Prayers were offered by Supt. J. R. Bagnall of the North Sanpete San-pete School District and Bishop O. M. Aldrich of Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Geneva Justesen gave a short sketch of the early life of Mrs. Blain, and paid tribute to her early home life as a happy one and an enjoyable place for friends to meet; also her lovely soprano voice in early choir and vocal work. Pratt Allred of the Manti temple tem-ple spoke of his early acquaintance acquaint-ance with her , parents; of her excellent attendance at Sunday School and church meetings. S. M. Nielsen, former North Sanpete Stake President, noted his 13 years labor with Mr. Blain in the Stake. He said that Mrs. Blain was a mother in Israel. Stake President Henry C. Jacobs said that the children left had all had good parents and early training, train-ing, and of the faith and devotion devo-tion of Mr. and Mrs. Blain to the church. Bishop Terry gave closing remarks re-marks as to the faithful care of the children and husband to Mrs. Blain in her long illness, also-of also-of the love she had for beautiful flowers and music. Profuse floral offerings were carried from the chapel by members mem-bers of the ward Relief Society and ward choir. James W. Blain of the Stake Presidency dedicated the grave in the City cemetery. Mrs. Boyd Allred was hostess to the Letitia and Fidelia club, Friday afternoon. Progressive rook was played with Mrs. Cutler Schofield, Mrs. Frank Peterson and Mrs. Vilate Hope as prize winners. A delicious luncheon was served. Special guests were: Mrs. Willis Allred, Mrs. Frank Watson, Mrs. Lewis Allred and Mrs. Osmer Beck. Jack Tucker of the Armed Forces and husband of ; Mrs. Jack Tucker, Tuck-er, the former Virginia Acord, is home on furlough visiting his wife and baby of this city and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Mar-ion Tucker of Fairview. Mrs. Rose Schofield and daughter, daugh-ter, Rosalie spent several days visiting in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Reid Ericksen are the proud parents of a new baby boy. This is their fourth child. Mrs. Mary Zabriskie of Eureka is visiting relatives in this city. She came here to attend the funeral fun-eral services of her sister, Mrs. John S. Blain. Mrs. Dona Allred, one of the chairman of the Salvage drive on now for Waste Fats, is asking that all chairmen of the districts canvas them and ask that waste fats be turned over immediately to the stores. 76,667 pounds per month each for June, July and August is the state quota. In May 77,871 pounds were collected. This was a little over the monthly month-ly quota, but decldely less than any previous month since January, Janu-ary, 1944. Clinton Black and family spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Angus Black. Mrs. Fergus Thompson and son, Billie of Los Angeles is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. John F. Justesen, Juste-sen, parents of Mrs. Thompson. Mar Dye is home after spending spend-ing several months in the Navy. He received a medical discharge because of an eye injury. He has been stationed in the Naval Training station at San Diego, California. Mr. Vivian Larsen received word of the death of his brother-in-law, Jesse Billington, 68, of Paul, : Idaho. I Mr. Billington has been in ill health for over two years. He was born in Missouri in 1876. He married mar-ried Stella Larsen of this city. They have lived at Paul, Idaho. He died Wednesday, July 5th, and the funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p. m. He is survived by his widow and four children. Another relative, E. A. Billington Billing-ton also live here. Mrs. Olga Black entertained the Aleathea club at the home, Friday evening. Mrs. Don Strate of Salt Lake City under went an operation for appendicitis last week at a Salt Lake hospital. She is convalescing convales-cing at Spring City at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Wil-liam Baxter. Jackie Dahl, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Dahl, sustained a broken arm when he fell from a small trycicle he was riding. Mrs. George Allred has received word of the death of a half brother, broth-er, Jesse Allred of South Dakota. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Allred. Mrs. Odell Elain entertained a group of children Monday afternoon after-noon at the birthday party of her small son, Duane. The ward Relief Society held work meeting Tuesday afternoon and two quilts were worked on. Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Mrs. Emma Sorenson and daughter, Rochelle were visitors Wednesday and Thursday at Midvale at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Justesen. Boyd Allred, Burns Allred, Marvin Mar-vin Peterson, Eathen Thompson, Vero Aiken and Virgus Osborne returned home Tuesday after shearing three months in Wyoming. Wyom-ing. Reid Barney of Cheridan, Wyoming Wy-oming has visited his mother, Mrs. Minnie D. Barney in this city and relatives in Delta, Utah. The Trail Builders and Home Builders of the Ward Primary enjoyed en-joyed a hike and Weiner roast Tuesday evening under the direction di-rection of Mrs. Libbie Allred, Mrs. Olga Black and Mrs. Virgus Osborne. Os-borne. The Pioneer Day celebration will be under the direction of the Canal Creek, local branch of the D. U. P. Camp. Captains Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Mrs. Hannah Mic-kle Mic-kle and Mrs. Minnie D. Barney will be in charge. Miss Ava Lee Christensen of Salt Lake, Miss Colleen Peterson of Manti are visiting at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Blain. |
