Show Early Nurse Dies at 90 In Mt. Pleasant Mrs. Sarah M. Kay Sheppard Dies at Home of daughter Closing Career of Prominent Church and Civic Worker Mrs. Sarah Margaret Hay Sheppard, Shep-pard, 110, prominent charch and civic worker, died Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. H. Anderson, 313 South 2nd w est in Mt. -Pleasant, of causes incident to age. Mrs. Sheppard was an active L D S church worker, especially in the Relief society. She also was a member of the Mona camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She served the community as a practical prac-tical nurse for more -.nan 50 years. She was born in Payson Feb. 6, 18d-1, a daughter of Edward and Sarah Pardington Kay, early Utah pioneers. On Dec. 27, 1869, she was married mar-ried in the Endowment house in Salt Lake City to Ephraim Isaac Sheppard of Mona. He died in Payson June 20, 1920. Surviving are 3 daughters, Mrs. Ella S. Anderson, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Survina S. Mendenhall, Pay-son; Pay-son; Mrs. Chloe Edwards, Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, Wiliam Sheppard, Shep-pard, Los Angeles; a sister and 4 brothers, Mrs. F. A. Keyie, Isaac Kay, Henry Kay and Hyi am Kay, Mona, and John T. Kay, Vernal; 33 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-greatgrandchildren. Funerl services were conducted in the Mona L D S ward chapel Thursday at 2 p. m. by Alton El-lertsen, El-lertsen, bishop. Burial was in the Mona cemetery, ceme-tery, under the direction of the Jacobs Mortuary of Mt. Pleasant. |
