Show MORONI I By Special Correspondence I Mr. and Mrs. Vernile Jensen announce the mariage of their daughter, Maurine to Mr. Dee BlacKham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Blackham of Moroni. They were married on June 23rd at Nephi and will make their home in Moroni. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Soren-son Soren-son are rejoicing over the safe arrival of. a baby girl born on June 27th at the Dice hospital. The father, however, is in the service of the United States and is stationed in Arkansas at present. pres-ent. The mother was formerly Miss Reah Blackham. Bruce Irons is at the Dice hospital hos-pital where he ts recovering from an appendicitis operation which was performed on Monday. Mon-day. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Nelson of Salt Lake City have moved back to Moroni and are living in part of his father's home, Bishop and Mrs. Ephraim Nelson. The following young men have had furloughs and have visited the past week with relatives rela-tives and friends here, all of whom were very happy to wel-come wel-come them back home for a few days: Eugene Blackham, Grant Olson, Max Weston, Gideon Jolly, Jol-ly, and Morris Dahl. Mrs. Deneice Blackham entertained en-tertained the Junior Sorosis club at her home last Wednesday evening eve-ning where the time was spent in quilting, after which a delicious deli-cious luncheon was served. She was assisted by Mrs. Reva All-red. All-red. A farewell dinner in honor of Fred Guymon and Paul Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, who are leaving this week for the U. S. Service was enjoyed last Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Christensen. There were twenty relatives present. Fred left Salt Lake City on Tuesday for Los Angeles and Paul has been assigned to Camp Kearns where they will take their training. train-ing. Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Brother-son Brother-son have rented the Main Cafe and will move in this week. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Christensen of Salt Lake City spent the past week visiting with relatives and friends at Moroni. They returned to their home on Monday. Mrs. Daisy Blackham accompanied accom-panied by her son, Eugene, visited vis-ited a few days last week with relatives and friends at Moroni. Mrs. and Mrs. Isaac Olson and daughter have moved to Nephi during the past week. Miss Rita Anderson of Ely, Nev. spent a few days here last week. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Monsen have returned home after visiting visit-ing for two weeks with relatives in Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Christensen Christen-sen have gone to Salt Lake City to receive medical attention for Mrs. Christensen and her many relatives and friends wish her a speedy recovery. The following Sunday School and Stake officers visited the West Ward Sunday School last Sunday: Leon Lund, Joseph P. Jensen, Myrum Lund, Alice Johnson, John-son, Verda Lund, and Howena Allred. A splendid program is being arranged for a July 4th celebration celebra-tion which will be held on July 5th are the West ward chapel at 10:00 a. m. Everyone is urged to be in attendance where further fur-ther anouncements will be made of the activities ioi the remainder remain-der of the day. Mrs. Elden Hansen and children, chil-dren, Geraldine and Keith are spending a few weeks visiting with her mother, Mrs. Samuel Blackham of Moroni. A most worthwhile project has been taken up by the Moroni East ward welfare committee with Bishop B. A. Childs in charge. Arrangements were made for all who wished to buy fruit for canning could leave their orders and receive whatever a-mount a-mount they desired. The first order to come was cherries which arrived Tuesday morning and it consisted over two tons of the choicest fruit that could be found anywhere. Every person certainly felt well satisfied and are very appreciative of the efforts ef-forts of this committee for being the means of bringing this choice fruit to our community. This same plan will be used for apricots, apples and peaches, which is good news during this period of gas rationing. |
