Show FAIRVIEW ! I By Special Correspondence Funeral services for Lenora E. Christensen, 62, were held in the Faiview South ward chapel Saturday, Sat-urday, June 26th at 2 p. m. with First Counselor Howard W. Rig-by Rig-by in charge. The ward choir sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," and the opening prayer was offered by Bishop Peter Nielsen. Niel-sen. The speakers were Bishop H. P. Hansen, Sarah Rigby, Bishop Bish-op George H. Nix, Merlin H. Mad-sen, Mad-sen, Hejier Mower and remarks by Howard Rigby. The musical selections were: a song by the Singing Mothers, "Mothers Love" a solo, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" by Floyd Young, who was accompanied by Lenil A. Young. A duet, "In The Garden" by Beverly Nix and Shirley Parker, Park-er, accompanied by Ruby Parker. Tile choir sang, "Rest, Rest For The Weary Soul." The closing prayer was offered by Maitland Graham and tile grave in the city cemetery was dedicated by E. A. Anderson. The floral offerings of-ferings were very beautiful and profuse. - A few of the out of town people peo-ple who came to attend the service ser-vice were as follows: Mrs. R. J. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Knud-son Knud-son and son, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Clin-ton E. Poulsen, Mrs. Ruby Parkins, Park-ins, Mrs. Albert Cheever, Miss Beverly Nix, Miss Shirley Parkins, Park-ins, Bishop George Nix. all of Copperton, Utah; Mrs. Fern Garn and Mr. and Mrs. jean K. Christensen Chris-tensen of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Anderson and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Anderson Ander-son and family of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Christensen, Mrs. Earl Wilde, and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wilde, all of Hiawatha, Utah; Mrs. Agnes Scow, Price; Mrs. Cleo Olsen, Manti; Mrs. Christensen's two sons who are in the U. S. Armed Forces also came. They are: Staff Sergeant Kieth P. Christensen of the Army Air Corps, stationed at Great Ben, Vansas and Corporal G. Bert Christensen stationed at Camp Houze, Texas. Her son Morris Christensen and his wife and baby also came from Big Springs, Texas. A son, A. D. Christensen, who is in Pearl Harbor in the Navy Reserve was unable to come. Cadet Arthur Tucker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Valten Tucker, has been transferred from the University Uni-versity of Nebraska to the state college at Vingston, Rhode Island. Is-land. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson, Mrs. Minta Clement, and Mrs. Howard Rigby were visitors last Sunday at Ephraim. Mrs. Hyrum Hansen is visiting in Provo with ner sister, Mrs. Nancy Miner. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cheever of Copperton, Utah were Fair-view Fair-view visitors last week. Lieutenant Clyde W. Rigby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rigby has ben transferred from Tuscon, Arizona to Casper, Wyoming. Wyo-ming. Mr. Leo Stewart of the United States Army is home on a furlough fur-lough visiting with friends and relatives in Fairview. He has been stationed at Florida. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ore Stewart. Lee Jensen of the United States Army is visiting with relatives and friends in Fairview while home on a short furlough. He is the son of Joseph Jensen of Fair-view. Fair-view. Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Jensen are the proud parents of a baby boy born Saturday, June 26th in the Rigby hospital. This is the second grandchild born in two day for Mr. and Mrs. Heber Jensen of Fairview. The Sunday School officers and teachers of the Fairview North Ward and their partners held a party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Sorensen last Friday evening. It was a lawn party and many games were played. Delicious refreshments were served and a very lovely time was had by all who attended. attend-ed. The North Ward Seniors Sunday Sun-day School class had a weenier roast at the city power plant last Thursday evening. A very enjoyable en-joyable time was had by all who attended. Mrs. Mildred Lasson entertained entertain-ed the sewing club last Wednesday Wednes-day evening. Delicious refreshments refresh-ments were served and an enjoyable enjoy-able evening was had by all the members. The weekly bridge club was held at the home of Mrs. Varda Vance. Dainty refreshments were served to all of the members present. Mrs. John Nordstrom entertained enter-tained the sewrng club at her home last Wednesday afternoon. The afternoon was spent in the quiltintg of a quilt after which a delicious luncneon was served to several ladies who took part. A geneology meeting was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bills last Saturday evening. eve-ning. Eight guests were present to discuss geneology matters of importance. Mr. and Mrs. Devon Sanders and son of Idaho Falls, Idaho, are visiting here with Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sanders. A party was held at the City Lodge last Wednesday evening in their honor. hon-or. Mr. and Mrs. Kex Cox of Salt Lake City were week end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Cox. Mr. and Mrs. Fay Sidwell and daughter, Miss Carol Peterson, and Miss Colleen Peterson, all of Provo were week-end visitors at Fairview last week. Mrs. Ross Vance has been visiting vis-iting with her children in Salt Lake City the jast wek. Mr. Grant Sanderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Goiaen Sanderson, was home in a week-end pass last week. He is in the United States Army and is stationed in Colorado. Mr. Leon Vance, who has been working in Salt Lake City, has returned home for a short visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Vance. Mrs. Pearl Nordstrom Cole Passes Away at Provo Hospital Mrs. Pearl Nordstrom Cole, 39, died Thursday m a Provo hospital hos-pital following a lingering illness. ill-ness. She was born in Joseph, Sevier county, June 22, 1904, a daughter of Martin and Sarah Brown Nordstrom. Nord-strom. Survivors include a former husband, the parents, one brother broth-er and two sisters, Leland Nordstrom Nord-strom and Elma N. Nordstrom of Fairview and Mrs. Ora Miner of Pomona, Claifornia. One brother, Layne Nordstrom was killed in action one year ago when the Lexington was sunk. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Fairview South ward L D S chapel chap-el with Heber Mower, bishop, officiating. of-ficiating. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery under direction direc-tion of the Jacobs Mortuary of Mt. Pleasant. |
