Show Sanpete County Won't Have Fair This Year There will be no Sanpete county coun-ty fair this year. j That is the decision of the county commission, according to Dr. S. B. Rigby of Fairvkw. chairman. Ordinarily conducted in tk? early fall at Manti, the fair has been temporarily abandoned this year, said Dr. Rigby, because funds available do not appear to be sufficient. Under state law, Sanpete county is allowed to levy annually annu-ally approximately $1,800 for county fair expenses, he explained. ex-plained. Of this amount $400 is granted outright to the annual jRambouillet Days celebration at jEphraim and an additional S200 goes for maintainance of the fair grounds at Manti. This leaves approximately $1200 for expenditure expendi-ture on a county fair. At first, it looked as if county civic clubs, specifically those in Manti, might undertake sponsorship spon-sorship ol a rodeo in conjunction with this year's county fair, Dr. Rigby said, hut that plan was later dropped. He said Manti civic leaders have promised to take the initiative ini-tiative in planning a county fail for next year. |
