Show I SPRING CITY j 1 By Sneciql Correspondence i Mrs. Maud E. Allred Larsen Dies at South Gate, Calif. Word was received by brothers and sisters of the sudden death of their sister, Mrs. Maud E. All-red All-red Larsen, 67. Mrs. Larsen was a prominent church worker and former resident resi-dent of this city, and also of Provo. She died July 5th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edith Dow in South Gate, California. Mrs. Larsen was born December Decem-ber 12, 1878 in Spring City, Utah, a daughter of Reuben W. and Clara Alice Robinson Allred. She received her education in the Spring City schools and was married mar-ried to Frederick Larsen. They made their home in this city, until they moved to Eureka in 1913. Five years later thev moved to Genola, Utah, until 19i3, when they moved to Provo where she has since resided until four years ago when she went to California to be with her daughter. Mr. Larsen died inP rovo in 1939. Mrs. Larsen was an active worker in the L. D. S. church, especially in Relief Society work. She was President of the Relief Society in Genola for many years and was also active in the Provo Fourth ward where she was a social worker. She served as a practical nurse for more than twenty years. She is survived by two sons F. Randall Larsen, Los Angeles, California, and Herbert R. Larsen, Lar-sen, American Fork; two daughters, daugh-ters, Mrs. J. Howard (Edith) Dow and Mrs. Douglas (Nedra) Tubbs, both of South Gate, California; two grandchildren, five brothers, Warren Lee and Royal Allred. Spring City and Herbert and Thomas Allred, Preston, Nevada; five sisters, Mrs. James (Emma) Jensen, Mrs. Vero (Eva) Aiken, Spring City, Mrs. Louis (Lenora) Andreason, Mrs. N. Leroy (Za-lema) (Za-lema) Christensen and Mrs. Neve (Louie) Mortensen, all of Provo. Attending the funeral services at Provo Wednesday afternoon from here were: Mr. and Mrs. Royal Allred, Mr. Warren Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Vero Aiken, Mrs. Emma Jensen, Mrs. Stella Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Allred and Reid H. Allred. Mrs. Jensen left from Prove for Sait Lake City, where slu will visit her children. Mrs. Athene Osborne was hostess host-ess Wednesday evening, to the Social Serivce club members. The evening was spent in playing rook with Mrs. Neva Dye, Mrs. Ruby Allred, Mrs. Etta Larsen and Mrs. Emma Sorensen as score winners. Special guests were: Mrs. A-nenia A-nenia Allred, Mrs. Effie Allred. Mrs. Libbie Allred, Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Mrs. Emma Sorensen and Mrs. Bertha Blain. The club reelected new officers for the coming year. They were: President, Mrs. Christie Beck: Vice President, Mrs. Mildred Peterson and Secretary and Treas urer, Mrs. Nellie Blain. Former club officers were: President, Mrs. Neva Dye; Vice President, Miss Geneva Strate, and Secretary Secre-tary and Treasurer, Mrs. Flossie Blain. Mr. and Mrs. John Van Cott and children and Miss Ruth Van Cott of Salt Lake, have been recent visitors at the home of their brother and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Madsen. . Mrs. Elizabeth Larsen, Mrs. Trena Black and Mrs. Stella All-red All-red visited in Mt. Pleasant Sunday Sun-day at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. John Jensen and Mrs. Annie Braby. Mrs. Allred is of Preston, Nevada and is visiting her mother, moth-er, Mrs. Black. Due to the culinary water short age sprinkling water hours for lawns and flowers are now restricted re-stricted to four hours daily, 8:00 A. M. to 10:00 A. M. and 5 P. M. to 7 P. M. Cpl. and Mrs. Carl Pyper and small son have been visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Odell Blain. Cpl. Pyper is a veteran of the Pacific operations and has recently come from Northern California where he has been stationed. sta-tioned. His wife and child were there with him. He will report next to Fort Douglas, Utah. Warren Allred has been a recent re-cent visitor in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Allred of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Larsen and boys of Fairview visited vis-ited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Waller-stein Waller-stein and daughters of Ogden have spent a week visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs, Leon All-red. All-red. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Allred entertained en-tertained Mr. and Mrs. Waller stein, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Allred and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis All-red All-red and family at their home, Saturday at a hot dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Williams Wil-liams and family of Salt Lake City spent a week visiting at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Blain. Mrs. Grace Fullmer also of Salt Lake City, visited the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blain. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Allred of Salt Lake City have purchased the home of Mr. and Mrs. Denzil Aiken, formerly of this city, now of Las Vegas. Nevada. Mr. and" Mrs. Wilford Bauer of Susanville, California have been visiting a week at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Allred. They left Wednesday for California, where Mr. Bauer is employed in the logging camps there. They will visit Mr. Bauer's parents at Enterprise on their return re-turn trip, Mrs. Vilate Hope has returned home after a week's visit in Salt ! Lake City. She attended the j weddin of a sister while there. Pvt. Richard Beck is home on a short furlough visiting his par- i ents, Mr. and Mrs. Osmer Beck and other members ."of his family. fam-ily. He has completed his training train-ing at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland, and has received his diploma from a special Gunnery Gun-nery School. He expects to be sent overseas in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Sorensen have received word their son. Pvt. Ted O. Sorensen, has left for overseas service. He enlisted for occupation service in Europe. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coleman and children of Salt Lake City have been visiting at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. ohn H. Coleman. Mrs. Ruth Osborne and Mrs. Emma Sorensen visited in Fair-view Fair-view Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gardell Osborne. They attended the birthday of Larry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Osborne. Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred. Mr. and Mrs. Virgus Osborne and Leo Osborne visited Tuesday evening eve-ning in Fairview at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Larsen. Mrs. Pearl A. Davis has been a recent visitor in Salt Lake City and Bountiful. She accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ross Neff there. The Neffs are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Warren Allred. They are from Huntington Park, California. Mrs. Hilda Jensen and son, Franklin have been visitors the past week in Salt Lake City, visiting vis-iting Mrs. Jensen's mother, Mrs. Dahl and other relatives. Mrs. Jensen's brother, Neils Rasmus-sen Rasmus-sen of Mt. Pleasant is very ill at a Salt Lake hospital and while there she also visited him. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Robinson of Bingham Canyon visited Sunday Sun-day at the home of their mother, Mrs. Lola Justesen. Pvt. Francis Schofield, recently home on furlough, was stationed a short while at Fort Douglas. He leaves soon for Massachusetts. Mrs. A. F. Klemen of San Fran-scisco, Fran-scisco, California is visiting her mother, Mrs. Matilda F. Groner. Mrs. Klemen is a recent bride and was married the latter part of June in San Francisco. She was Miss Melba Frandsen. F. C. Boyce of Boise, Idaho spent a week visiting his daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs, Curtis Allred and family of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Earnel Allred of Sunnyside have been recent visitors vis-itors at the homes pf Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Allred and Mr, and Mrs. Pratt Osborne. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Aiken and family and L. W. Aiken left for a week's trip to Sellowstone National Na-tional park. Mrs. Nellie Blain and small daughters, Carolyn and Cheryl visited Wednesday in Ephraim ,at the home of Mrs. George Soren sen. Miss Von Neil Ivory of Fountain Foun-tain Green is visiting her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Blain. Mr. and Mrs. Christian Sorensen Soren-sen have returned home from a trip visiting Mr. Sorensen's broth er, James Sorensen at Ppcatello, Idaho. Miss Rulah Sorensen is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sorensen. She is employed at Salt Lake City and recently returned re-turned from a trip to California. The Fourth of July program, sponsored by the local Ball Team and under direction of the Social Service club, was vry successful. The theme of the program and day was honoring our Service men. Miss Geneva Strate presided over the following program: Song, "America," by the congregation. congre-gation. A vocal solo, "Spirits of Peace," ' was rendered by Victor Jensen of ! Mt. Pleasant; readings by Perry 1 Dye and Carolyn Blain. J A large beautiful plaque was presented at the meeting with j the names of 122 World War II j Veterans names upon it and four gold stars. The presentation j speech was given by Reid H. Allred.
