MORONI I I By Specal Corespondence 1 A most inspirational meeting explaining the Welfare Program of the church was enjoyed last Sunday evening in Moroni West ward chapel under the direction of the Moroni Stake Presidency. It was for members from each of the five wards. The July 4th celebration in Moroni Mo-roni was an unusually big success. suc-cess. A most outstanding parade, which was several blocks long, made their way at 10 A. M. from Moroni West ward to the Co-op Service Station at the East end of Main Street and then proceeded proceed-ed back to Moroni West ward chapel. All church and civic organizations or-ganizations were represented as well as various clubs of the city and first prize was won by the Artopic club, while the second prize was awarded to Big Springs Power Company and the Moroni Fire Department won the third prize. The judges, who were selected se-lected to choose the winners expressed ex-pressed themselves as finding it most difficult to make their decision de-cision because of the many beau tiful floats. A car with a loud speaker system was most outstanding out-standing due. to the service rendered ren-dered where everyone for blocks could hear plainly all instructions instruc-tions regarding the parade, as well as information in every way. The Moroni High School band, with Moroni Adult musicians, assisting, under the direction of John K. Guymon furnished splendid splen-did numbers in the parade, as well as at the program, which was under the direction of Stake President George M. Anderson and was enjoyed at the West ward cahpel at 11 A. M. The next great event was the Rodeo at the ball park at 2 P. M. which was sponsored by Moroni and Wales, where thousands of young and old from Moroni, as well as from other parts of the state, were in attendance. The rodeo was considered one of the best ever held in Moroni. The loud speaker system was also used there which made the rodeo most enjoyable and the entire program was most outstanding. The evening was concluded with a children's dance at 6:30 and another one at 9 P. M. in Joy-land. Joy-land. All Service men from Moroni Mo-roni and Wales were special guests and were admitted free, both day and night. The celebration was sponsored by the Moroni City Coucil and the Arc Club, with Joseph N. Revill as general chairman. A most delightful shower was given on Friday evening in Moroni Mo-roni East ward chapel in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Val Daniels. Mrs. Daniels was formerly Miss Verdean Morley of Moroni. The program was in charge of Mrs. Earl Blackham and was enjoyed en-joyed greatly by all present, after af-ter which delicious refreshments were served to the large number present. The newlyweds received many beautiful and useful gifts and have the very best wishes of their many relatives and friends here for a long and happy married mar-ried life. Gary, the 8-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Draper received re-ceived a broken arm last week when he fell off a horse near their home. He is improving nicely now. Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Seeley and family of McGill, Nevada spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Monsen. They announce the safe arrival of a baby boy at their home in April. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Christensen spent July 4th in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bailey and children enjoyed spending July 4th with relatives and friends at Moroni. Dr. and Mrs. T. B. Dodgson are moving away in the near future to Seattle, Washington and have already shipped their furniture. They have sold their home to President and Mrs. George M. Anderson and their home has been purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Christensen. Both families fam-ilies plan to move into their homes this week. Garnell Blackham, son of Mrs. Lucy Blackham, has accepted a call to lobar as an L. D. S. missionary mis-sionary in the East Central States. He will enter the mission Hofe on Oct. 7th. The following couples enioyed a trip to the Mt. Pleasant Power plant last Friday evening: Mr. and Mrs. Jean Cloward, Mr. and Mrs. Grant P. Draper, Mr. and Mrs Eugene- Christensen, Mr. and Mrs Warren Christensen. Mr and Mrs. Albert Cloward, Mr. and Mrs. Burnell Bruno, Mr. and Mrs Eddie Lund, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Jacobson and Mr. and Mrs Don Hardy. After playing names thev enjoyed a delicious hot chicken dinner. The party was in honor of Mrs. Burnell Bruno and Warren Christensen. the occasion being their birthday anniversary. The Lazv Daisy club members were entertained last Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Lola Olson at her home in Ephrim. where thev enjoved doing needle-worok, needle-worok, after which a delicious lunch was served. Mrs. Albert Cloward and children chil-dren are spending a few days this week with relatives in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Ole Christensen of Sacramento, California spent last week with Mrs. Margaret Jacobson and Charles Christensen Christen-sen and families. Everyone is invited to attend : the big celebration in Moroni on Pioneer Day which promises to be a big success. A wonderful parade, pa-rade, program and rodeo are the red letter events of the day. The celebration is under the direction of the Sons and Daughters of the Pioneers and Moroni West ward. Everyone is welcome to be in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bailey of Salt Lake City spent July 4th at Moroni and were accompanied back by Mrs. Earl Blackham and small daughter, Kathleen, who spent three days visiting there. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Peterson have returned home from Salt Lake City, after having spent 2 years there and they expect to remain here indefinitely. Mr. and Mrs. Edgel Blackham and family of Los Angleles are visisting with friensd and relatives rela-tives here. Mr. and Mrs. John Revill of Inglewood, California and Mrs. Carlisle Wilson and children of Salt Lake City were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph N. Revill this week. Mr. and Mrs. Burnell Bruno are rejoicing over the safe arrival of a baby girl at the iDce hospital hospi-tal on July 2nd. |
