Show j SPRING CITY j By Special Correspondence i Wililam E. Robinson Observes His 84th Birthday Wednesday William E. Robinson was 84 years of age Wednesday. Of late his health ,also that of Mrs. Robinson, Rob-inson, has been rather poorly, but he is very active for his years. He has spent a life time of service in civic and church activities. activ-ities. In the latter he'has been most diligent and faithful. He was president of the ward Y. M. M. I. A. for several years. When 14 years of age he acted as a ward teacher and all his life has worked in that capacity, and for years has been a head visiting teacher. He served for more than thirty years in the stake and ward Sunday School Presidency, and as an officer. He was president of the ward choir, having served since his youth in that organization. He also was a member of the stake high council, and supervisor of the Genealogical Society of the ward. He served on two missions to Cache valley and Idaho and the other in Colorado and Wyoming. Wyo-ming. In civic affairs he was a county road supervisor and city councilman. council-man. Mr. Robinson was born June 3, 1862, at Spring City, a son of John and Emma Lucas Robinson. The parents were early colonizers and tradesmen of this community. communi-ty. Mr. Robinson was married to Lovina S. Allred November 22, 1883 in the Salt Lake Endowment House by Daniel H. Wells. They traveled the entire distance in a wagon. They have four children, Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Leonard Robinson, Mrs. Bertha Blain, Spring City and Mrs. Emma Puzey of Magna. There are ten living grandchildren, grandchil-dren, nineteen great grandchildren, grandchil-dren, and one great great grandchild. grand-child. One grandson and two great grandsons are now serving in the armed forces. Mrs. Margaret Barney Black, of Baldwin Park, California is here visiting in her old home town, with her many relatives and friends. J. Reid Barney of Sheridan, Wyoming, a former resident of this city, has just returned from Chicago, Illinois where he enjoyed en-joyed a two weeks vacation earned by selling more insurance than any other agent of the Equitable Equi-table Life Assurance Society. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Fullmer announce the forth coming marriage mar-riage of their daughter Needra to Frank P. Turner, son of Mrs. Pauline Turner, 24 K Street, Salt Lake City. June 27th will be their wedding day. Following the ceremony a reception will be held at the residence of Kenneth Williams 2185 East, 17th South, after which the young couple will leave for a honeymoon at Yellowstone National Na-tional Park. The bride to be has chosen as her attendants, Miss Marjorie Williams and Mrs. Doris Inama and Mr. Ernest Inama will be Best- Man. Mr. Turner was recently released re-leased from the Army Air Force in which he served five years during that time one year war-spent war-spent overseas. Miss Fullmen was the guest o honor at a miscellaneous shower Saturday evening at the residence resi-dence of Mrs. John T. Blain. Mrs. Ruth Osborne entertained members of the family Thursday afternoon at a hot chicken dinner in observance of the birthday of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Jus-tesen Jus-tesen of Midvale. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Justesen and their small daughter Judy K, and Miss Ethel Osborne of Midvale are visiting in this city for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Alden Blain and son, Earcel of Bountiful spent several davs visiting at the home of Mr. and" Mrs. Warren Allred. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Reid Black of Salt Lake visited over the I week end at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Black. Mr. and Mrs. Marsden Allred are at present visiting in Denver, Colorado at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harrv Lukeforth. Mrs. Luke-forth Luke-forth and'Mrs. Allred are sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Devon Osborne and small baby visited over the week end at the homes of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Osborne Os-borne and Mr. and Mrs. Lee All-red. All-red. The Alethea club members and special guests attended the birthday birth-day party of Mrs. Hazel Black at her horpe Monday afternoon. Those attending were, Mrs. Ber-getta Ber-getta Jensen, Mrs. Olga Black, Mrs. LaVee Draper, Mrs. Mabel Beck, Mrs. Sylvia Neilsen, Mrs. Vilate Hope, Mrs. Lorna Jensen, Mrs. Ella Carlson, Mrs. Leona Strate, Mrs. Ella Allred, Mrs. Otellia Justesen, Mrs. Verniel Robinson, Mrs. Mary Robinson, Mrs. Alice Strate, Mrs. Margaret Black, Mrs. Ethea Robinson and Mrs. Trena Black. The ladies enjoye'd playing rook, with scores won by Mrs. Verniel Robinson, Mrs. Bergetta Jensen and Mrs. Sylvia Neilsen. A delicious lunch was served by the hostesss. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Ogden were local visitors Wednesday and Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Baxter of Salt T.ake Cltv snenr several Havs in this city visiting relatives. Mrs. Emma Zabriskie is visiting visit-ing at the home of her daughter, Mrs. DeRae Christensen at Ogden. Og-den. Mrs. Zabriskie has been visiting with her son, Scott, who resides in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Mrs. Faun Acord and daughters of Ogden spent the past week visiting at the home of Bishop and Mrs. E. B. Terry and Mrs. Mary E. Acord; also visiting at the Acord home was Miss Myrl Lee of Toppenish, Washington. Pvt. Ted Sorenscn is home on a two weeks furlough visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Sorensen and other relatives. This is the first time in a year and a half he had seen his brother, Keith, recently discharged dis-charged from the service. Ted has been training in Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland has been stationed in Headquarters Headquar-ters Detachment. Mrs. Edith Sorensen and Mrs. Amanda Sorensen recently enjoyed en-joyed an airplane ride to Salt Lake City, their first trip in the air. The family of Mrs. Mary E Acord observed her birthday on May 30th. Mrs. Acord has been an active member of this ware1 and community. She served as secretary in the ward Primary, secretary of the Religion class, president of the Y. L. M. I. A. foi nine years. Then she served as a stake aid on the M. I. A. Board. She was then made second stake president of the M. I. A. She also served as secretary in I the Sunday School, also a class i teacher, a member of the ward I choir, treasurer in the Relief Society So-ciety and later as secretary, also a class teacher and visiting Relief Re-lief society teacher, and one of the standing committee on the Old People's Committee. She served as City Recorder for two years. Mrs. Acord was married to the late Henry Acord. She has two sons, Clare Acord of Nephi, and Frank Acord of Ogden. Carlan Blain is visiting relatives rela-tives in this city. He is from Clearfield and was formerly of this city. A brother, Alton, now in Service, is at present in Southern South-ern France. Mr. and Mrs. Dana James and small children of Salt Lake City visited the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Allred. Mrs. Phyllis Lund and small son of Moroni visited the pas week at the home of her parents I Mr. and Mrs. Curt-s Allred. I Max Barney of Fairview is iting at the home of his aunt Mrs. Neva Dye. I Mrs. Eva Erickson left Sundar for Santa Cruz, New Mexico to visit her son. Austin Ericksor and family. Mr. and Mrs. L; Syndergaard and family of Sal (Lake City acompanied her on tin trip. Monroe downed Spring City j Sunday to a score of 9 to 4, in a Southern League tilt-. Spring City had their own way for the first six stanzas, but Monroe came back to score seven runs in the last three games and won out in the contest.
