Show I FOUNTAIN GREEN ( Ey Special Correspondence I Mary Ellen Jackson Holrnan Dies at Fountain Green Home Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Jackson Holman were conducted con-ducted Tuesday, June 4th in the ward chapel byr Bishop Scott Cook. I The ward choir, under direction of Mrs. Eva Jacobsen, sang, "Sis-I "Sis-I ter Thou Wast Mild and Lovely," and "Softly and Tenderly." Lu Jane Christiansen accompanied. Prayers were offered by Irvin P. Oldroyd and Ivan Bailey-. Speakers were Bishop Cook, Osmond Os-mond Crowther and James L. Xeilson. A vocal duet, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine," was sung by Mrs. Velda Jackson and Jesse Oldroyd. Mrs. Olena Johnson John-son sang, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," with Lu Jane Christiansen Chris-tiansen accompanist with both selections. Interment was in the City cemetery cem-etery under direction of the Ur-senbach Ur-senbach funeral home. The grave was dedicated by Orrin Jackson of Provo. Mrs. Holman died at her home in Fountain Green Friday, May 31st at noon. She was born Mav 19, 1874 at Fountain Green, the daughter of George Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Jackson on Julv 7, 1897. She married Warren 11. Holman in the Manti Temple. He died April 20, 1940. She is survived by six sons and two daughters, Luella H. Mikkel-son, Mikkel-son, Fountain Green; Zola H. Ah-lin, Ah-lin, Santaquin, Utah; Farril Holman, Hol-man, Midvale; Burton, John, Geoerge, Glen and Emery Holman Hol-man of Montrose, Colorado; 28 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, grand-children, one grandson is serving in Japan; two brothers, Henry Jackson, Provo; and Thomas C. Jackson, Springville. She was a faithful church member and a teacher in the Relief Society organization. or-ganization. A New Old Orchestra Yes, what you have thought a rumor is now a fact. A new orchestra has been organized in Fountain Green, composed of all former players just returned from the service, and Friday night, June 7 this orchestra will give a prize of $5.00 for the best name chosen for them, so let's all boost this new organization. They were the best before, they must be the best now. Many former residents from all parts of the sta-.e came to Fountain Foun-tain Green on Memorial Day to pay respect to their departed loved ones and visit also with friends and relatives who are living. 4-H Club Elects The second year 4-H clothing group has elected the following officers: President, Lola Cook; Vice President,' Delores Lund; Secretary and Treaseurer, Marilyn Mari-lyn Collard; Song and Cheer Leader, Royce Christiansen; Accompanist, Ac-companist, Dorothy Anderson; Reporter, Macella Hansen. This club is under tne leaaersnip 01 Mrs. Mary Aagard. Summer work in the 4-H clubs of Fountain Green is fast getting under way. The ' Busy Bees" have had their two Ileahh lessons, les-sons, the first "Correct Posture" was given by their leader, Mrs. Opal Aagard; the second, "How to Stand," was given by Shirley Lund. After the lessons the remainder re-mainder of the time is spent in handy work. ' Marriage Announced Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Johnson announce the marriage of their daughter, Thelma and Jack W. Inglefield of Mt. Pleasant, who has recently been released from the U. S. S. Navy, after spending two years and three months in the service. Birth Announced Mrs. Bertha Christiansen has announced the birth of her first great grandson, born May 17 at the Holy Cross hospital in Salt Lake City to Mr. and Mrs. Chaun-cey Chaun-cey Riddle. The mother, before her marriage, was Miss Bertha Allred of Fountain Green. A letter from England on May 18th received by Mrs. Lillian Snow, conveyed the sad news of the death of her aged father, Mr. T. F. Gibson in England. Just previous to his death Mr. and Mrs. Gibson celebrated 1heir 63rd wedding anniversary. This sad news came as a shock to Mrs. Snow, who last saw her parents 12 years ago when she visited them following the death of her husband. Mary Louise Bailey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Bailey of Xephi, Is visiting with her cousin Miss Joyce Bailey. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Hansen of Los Angeles are visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Hansen. Mrs. Emma Hansen, leader of "The Bee Gatherers," of the M. I. A., has received her pin of award for 3 years service in this group. |
