Show U. S. Sets Up Soil Camp In Mt. Pleasant With the arrival of Lieutenant Soesbe and 10 enrollees as an advance ad-vance guard from the Price Soil Conservation Camp, aradi 10 convoys of general camp equipment from Fort Douglas cn October 9th, the establishment of a Soil Conservation Conserva-tion Camp in Mt. Pleasant became a reality. G. S. Quate, district manager of the Soil Conservation Service, has been in the country some time, cooperating with J. W. Humphrey, supervisor of the Forest Service preparing tentative work plans. The main company will arrive about October 20th. Just where they will be drawn from is not established es-tablished at this time. Supervising personnel and equipment are being transferred from the Soil Conservation Conserva-tion Camp located at Safford, Arizona. Ari-zona. With the establishment of the Camp, citizens of Sanpete are elated elat-ed because of the long felt need1 of a camp of this type. Floods did much damage at Manti, Ephraim and Mt. Pleasant, and it is expected that it will be possible to eliminate many of the flood hazards, by the placing of check dams and other projects. |
