Show Governor Blood Given a Grand Welcome In ( Sanpete Valley ' Governor Henry H. Bloodi and Democratic candidates for state and county offices came through Sanpete valley last Saturday visiting visit-ing the various towns of the county. At Mt. Pleasant a rally was held by tire local Democratic Precinct c mmittee at which the Governor explained clearly and thoroughly the Social Security plan as it works in haniuony with, the New Deal pro-g. pro-g. am to a packed hou.se at the High School Auditorium, Governor Gover-nor El od said that he had urged the State Legislature to pass laws pt rmitting Utah to receive the benefits ben-efits cf the New Deal prorgam relative rel-ative to old age securities. The Superintendent of Public Instruction, In-struction, the Attorney General also al-so spoke cn the New Deal program. Ccunty Chairman W. G. Fricb,-knecht Fricb,-knecht was present awd introduced all the candidates for c:unty offices. offi-ces. Buike McArthur, local chairman chair-man was in charge of the meeting and at the close of the program urged people to show appreciation to those who had helped us through the depression by reducing taxes and getting outside aid to help us ai.-ng. He told them of the many rine structures that have been built here for the benefit of trie people by the New Deal program and that he was going to show his . apprecia-ation apprecia-ation for these things by supporting these who have rendered valuable service; to us. He referred to the Governor as the man who had rendered ren-dered $80,000,000 worth cf service to ihe state of Utah, which is moe than any other governor has ever done. Much applause was given through out the meeting. |
