Show Seek Rotation of CW A Work Reports from various towns in the county indicate that a largo number ol men are strongly opposed oppos-ed td the present adminitstration of the C. W. A. projects, which does not allow for rotation of the benefits to more men. In Mount Pleasant, for instance, 81 men off a relief roster bearing 193 names have been put to work, and the 112 who were not placed on the payroll pay-roll believe that the work should be rotated; others not on the relief re-lief rolls who need employment are of a similar opinion. At the Invitation of Mayor James Frost of Ephraim, the mayors of the various communities in the county met in that city Wednesday afternoon in an attempt to map out what they considered a more .aHcfoMnrv ftTTflnffpnipnt. Spencer Mofflt, CWA disbursing officer in Sanpete, explained the countyls (allotment of funds and said that rotation of labor was discouraged dis-couraged by Marriner d. Eccles, C WA chairman for Utah, and that all names on the relief rolls must be submitted to the reemployment bureau. The method used in selecting men to work on the various projects pro-jects was criticised, and specific examples of alleged unfairness were cited by the representatives of the several cities and towns. CWA headquarters at Salt Lakj was called by telephone and an appointment made for a committee commit-tee to meet today with officials, in an effort to work out a solution of the problem. Mayor Winters was one member placed on this committee, com-mittee, which included also Mayor W. G. Frtschknecht of Mantl, Mayor Ma-yor Frost and Lyman WUlardsou oi Ephraim, C S. Augason of Ft. Green and W. H. Bailey of Sterling. Sterl-ing. Mayor W. P. Winters stated yesterday yes-terday that when he meets today and tomorrow in Salt Lake City with state official of the CWA program, he Will recommend that the local streets program as presented pre-sented several weeks ago be withdrawn with-drawn nnrl that a series of A. B, C, D and E projects be substituted in its place. Under his plan completion com-pletion of each project would call lor a new crew of men, rather than keeping the men now on the payroll pay-roll employed until February 15, as originally planned. |
