Show 4-H Club Work Prepares Youth For Vocations - F-ur H clubs, organized to train and interest young people from the ages of twelve until the time xf their marriage have a membership member-ship of more than 5400 young people peo-ple in the state of Utah alone, D. P. Murray, state club itader, reports. re-ports. The clubs, divided in this state into two groups, are supervised super-vised by more than a thousand volunteer leaders. The two Four-H organizations in Utah are the clubs proper, organized organ-ized on a projict basis for boys and glvls from 12 to 15 years cf e, and the farm and home science sci-ence groups, for young men and women from the age cf sixteen until un-til the time they are married. The aim of club wcrk is to train the young people to. build up carefully care-fully studied projects from year lb year to enable them to better manage farms of their cwn. In most cases this aim has been fully realized, says Mr. Murray. .What Is unquestionably the best herd of Hampshire shtep breeding stock in Utah, a flock of 125 pure-bred ewes owned by Millard and Roscoe Andrews cf Marion, Utah, began according to Mr. Murray as a Four t H project consisting of two Hampshire Hamp-shire ewes. A number of Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural college students are financing their educations with their club experience, either through their project directly, through work obtained ob-tained in their club line, or through scholarships awarded them as Four-H club workers. Club enrollment has showed a steady increase, and definite proofs of its cash value have been obtained, obtain-ed, Mr. Murray declares. |
