Show i SPRING CITY I By Special Correspondence j A community weiner roast attended at-tended by several hundred citizens of Spring City on Wednesday evening eve-ning officiolly opened the WPA Recreation Project. It was the first of a series of parties and entertainments enter-tainments to be sponsored by local recreational leadeis. The Spring City band led by Mr. E. B.. Terry serenaded in town and then marched march-ed to the Grove where the entertain ment was held in honor of Mr. Terry and family. The following program was enjoyed: community singing; talk, "What Mr. Terry Has Done for Our Community," bv Mayor Farrel M. Sorensen; "How Mis. Terry Aided. Mr. Terry," by Hazel Black; recitation, Devoan Osbcine; accordian selection, Mrs. Laiina Allred; instrumental selection. selec-tion. Amasa Hansen and Carlos Blain; song, Rinda Billington and company, accompanied by John Davis; talk, "Boost Your Tovn, ' Edward Downard; remarks . by Ernest G. Brunger. Regular classes at the Recreation Center are now in daily session, which includes classes in dancing. dramatics, handicraft, etc. Contests Con-tests with other centers in nearby cities are scheduled for the near future. Mr. and Mrs Ray Naylor and daughter of Consumers were weekend week-end guests of Mrs. Wyroa Hansen. Their daughter Beth is spending this week with Maxirae Hansen, daughter of Mrs. Wyroa Hanseni. Doyle Madsen attended the Black Hawk Encampment at Cedar City last week. Mrs. Margaret Osborne has gone to Ferrcn to visit with her daughters daugh-ters and their families. Mrs. Wilford Mortensen is reported re-ported to be ill at her home, suffering suffer-ing with pneumonia. Mrs. Mary K: Allred1 and daughter daugh-ter Mrs. John Coleman are visiting relatives in Par.guitch this week. The Scandinavian Reunion at Mt. Pleasant Saturday and Sunday was attended and enjoyed by one hundred hund-red Spring City people. Carl Peterson and family have moved to Salt Lake City where Mr. Peterson will work as a shoe repairer. re-pairer. Miss Bernice Justesen of Provo is here visiting her mother, Mrs. Annina Justesen. . Nine Spring City boys enjoyed the trip to California, sponsored bv the F. F. A. They visited Boulder Dam and other points of interest and) returned home Saturday evening. eve-ning. Mr. and Mrs. James H. Peterson have returned home from a motor trip through the parks of Southern UMl; Mrs. Marie J. Allred was operated oper-ated on Saturday in a Salt Lake City hospital. Mrs. Helena Eunnell announces the marriage cf her daughter Margaret Mar-garet to Andy Draper, so-ii of Mrs. Effie Draper of Mt. Pleasant. The marriage was solemnized August 6 in the Salt Lake City L. D. S. temple tem-ple with President George F. Richards officiating. A reception was given Friday evening on the lighted lawns at the heme of Mrs. Helena Buntell. The bride wore a pale blue model with a corsage af pink roses. They received many useful and beautiful gifts. Musical numbers were rendered! ren-dered! throughout the evening by members of the family. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served to one hundred guests. Following a honeymoon trip to San Francisco and points up the Pacific Coast they will make their hcrob at Grants Pass, Oregon, where Mr. Draper is employed. |
