Show Scouts Hold Dist. Jamboree at Spring City In compliance with the Council wide district jamboree plans, Scouts from every registered troop in the district mobilized at the Spring City school grounds and began to pitch tents at 2 p. m. Friday. There were forty-eight registered scouts and a fairly large number of scout-ers scout-ers and spectators in attendance. A special feature of the Jamboree was the Saparovan. The Curlew Patrol from Spring City won firsts in the Compass Relay, Early in. Early out relay, and the signalling relay. The Flaming Arrow Patrol from Spring City won firsts in the knot tying relay, the water boiling, and the pancake cooking contests. The Mt. Pleasant North wardl came in first in the nail driving relay and the treasure hunt. The Kit Carson Patrol from) Fairview South ward won first in the trail sign relay and claimed the district chamlpionship in fire making by flint and steel when their chal-Jenige chal-Jenige was not accepted. Doyle Anderson, An-derson, a second class scout from the Fairview South ward troop claims the individual record by virtue vir-tue of his having made a flame in six seconds withcut a match. The scouts assembled in the Spring City school gymnasium fcr the evening program when the weather became too threatening to hold the planned bonfire program. Community singing led' by Scoutmaster Scout-master Max Cox from Fairview Sauh ward; a talk by Mayor Parrel Par-rel Soren.son of Spring City; hunting hunt-ing and camping experiences related re-lated by Itr. I. D. Foutz of Payson, Council Clnurman of Camping; and a watcrmellon bust furnished by the North Sanpete Stake Presidency Presi-dency completed! the day's program. The Scouts came home Saturday morning after a slight snow storm. The Jamboree was conducted under un-der the leadership of Verl E. Jo-hansen Jo-hansen who is succeeding Superintendent Superin-tendent A. E. Jones as District Scout Commissioner. |
