Show Battery "0" Is Rated High at Inspection Much public interest centered Thursday evening in the annual Federal inspection of Battery D, 222nd Field Artillery U. N. G. at which Major B. L. Carroll, senior instructor and inspecting officer, officiated. Of special interest was the visit i cf distinguished Army officers including in-cluding Adjutant General W. G. Williams, Commander of the 65th F. A. brigade; Colonel Hamilton Gardener, 222nd F. A. U. N. G.; Lieutenant Colonel A. E. Wilfong, 222nd F. A.; Major Duffin, 65th F. A. Brigade staff; Major Lyons, Adjutant General department; Major West, Commander Second Eattallion, 222nd F. A.; Lieutenant Lieuten-ant Tolton of Headquarters battery, bat-tery, third battallion 222nd' F. A. of Beaver; Captain L. R. Christensen, Chris-tensen, executive of second battallion bat-tallion staff; the entire Service Battery of Lehi 100 per cent attendance at-tendance of enlisted men (37 in number) and officers: Captain Curtis, Lieutenants Ottesen, Gilchrist Gil-christ and Evans. Battery "D" had 100 per cent enlisted men, 67 in number, and four officers, Captain Chesley P. Seely, Lieutenants E. G. Brunger, H. E. Frandsen and A. W. Peterson Peter-son present. Following the inspection of the Armory personnel, locker rooms, detail equipment and material building equipment, all of which were highly praised by the visitors, a luncheon was enjoyed by the entire local battery and all the visitors, a total of about 150 men, in the Armory Hall with Captain Seely in charge. Remarks were made by the visiting vis-iting officers, two of Mt. Pleas-ant's Pleas-ant's early U. N. G. Captains, Thomas Braby and L. P. Nelson. Musical numbers included saxophone saxo-phone solos, Gordon Staker; cornet cor-net solos, Clarence Anderson: trombone solos, Gerald Ericksen, all of Battey D, and selections by the local Mandolin and Guitar club Mrs. Chesley P. Seely was accompanist. |
