Show PGHS Students to Participate in Debate Tourney High school debaters from throughout Utah will engage in verbal battle March 27 and 23 on the University of Utah campus. cam-pus. It will be the annual Utah High School Debate Tournament authorized by the Utah High Schools Activities Association. Among participants will be these Pleasant Grove High School students : Judith Jolley and Ardith Walker Walk-er will participate in Debate; Joye Nelson will compete in Oratory Or-atory and Kay Adams and Lee Gillman will take part in the Legislative Leg-islative Forum. Jesse Walker of the high school faculty is the adviser and instructor. Scheduled are debate, extemporaneous extem-poraneous speaking, oratory and a Student Legislature. The latter will be in the State Capitol, where the State Legislature only this month concluded its session. According to George A. Ad-amson, Ad-amson, director of debate at the University of Utah, the tournament tourna-ment will begin with registration registra-tion in the university's Union Bldg. March 27 at 8 a.m. Debate, extemporaneous speaking speak-ing and oratory will be conducted in the Union Bldg Friday morning morn-ing and afternoon and Saturday morning, while the Student Legislature Leg-islature meets in the Capitol. There will also be a reception sponsored by the University of Utah Associated Students, March 27 at 3p.m. In the Union Bldg. Concluding the 2-day event will , be an award luncheon March 28 at 12:30 p.m. in the Union Bldg. caf eteria, at which time decisions will be announced. Mr. Adamson also announced that 10 full-tuition scholarships to the University of Utah are available to meritorious high school debaters, to encourage talented tal-ented students to continue their education and participate in for-ensdcs. for-ensdcs.
