Cowboy's Assn. Approves P.6. Strawberry Pays Jlodeo Plans Pleasant Grove's June 18 to 20 Strawberry Days Rodeo has been fully approved by the Rodeo Cowboys Cow-boys Association, Inc. The approval ap-proval became official last week when the 1959 certificate was received re-ceived by Rodeo Chairman Kenneth Ken-neth R. Gillman. This means that the 1959 Strawberry Days shows are en titled to full benefits and support sup-port of the national Rodeo Cowboys Cow-boys Association and its members mem-bers and programs. According to Mr. Gillman, the local June 18 to 20 events will attract the top talent in all phases phas-es of rodeo competition. He listed the prize money as follows: Saddle Bronc Riding, $150; Bareback Riding, $150; Bull Riding, Rid-ing, $150; Calf Roping, $150; and Steer Wrestling $150. Entry fees range from $20 to $30. Mr. Gillman stated that the official of-ficial approval by the Rodeo Cowboys Cow-boys Association is the last official of-ficial step necessary to bring big-time rodeo to Pleasant Grove. The local 1959 Strawberry Days Show will be produced by "Flying U" rodeo company of Marysvale, California, and will be produced by Dick Pascoe and Cotton Rosser. This outfit has staged successful success-ful top-flight rodeo entertainment in most of the western and Pacific Pac-ific Northwest States for the past several years. "We just had to go first class" said Mr. Gillman, "or go out of the rodeo business." He admitted that financial risks were involved but in the long pull, the results were bound to be a great improvement im-provement over the programs of the past several weeks. |
