Show 'Emergency' Meet Set for Salt Lake City May 11 to 22 A conference designed to prepare pre-pare civilians in Utah and the West for effective participation in a mobilization of all our resources re-sources for a national emergency will be held in Salt Lake City May 11 through the 22nd by the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Washington, D.C. The conference, under sponsorship spon-sorship of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and the University of Utah, will be offered to a selected selec-ted group of civilians and to Regular, Reserve and National Guard officers, according to Dr. O. Preston Robinson, who has been named general chairman for the Important event. Dr. Robinson Robin-son is a well-known civic leader and editor and general manager of the Deseret News. "The conference," Dr. Robinson Robin-son says, "is an information-packed information-packed presentation of facts our citizens should know about the status of our national security. It points out the problems which will confront this country in a national emergency; the resources resour-ces and potentials of possible belligerents, allies and neutrals; and the procedures for making the best use of our national resources. re-sources. The instruction is given by six senior officers from the faculty of Industrial College, Washington, Washing-ton, D.C, and includes two officers offic-ers from each of the military services. ser-vices. The conference will be conducted conduc-ted at Kingsbury Hall at the University of Utah. Sessions will be held from 9 to noon and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. daily for the two week period. Military and industrial leaders from many western states will be in attendance. Committees for thet conference are now being formed. Headquarters Head-quarters for the event have been set up at the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerca under the direction of Colonel Caleb A. Shreeve, USAR. Governor George D. Clyde and Mayor Adiel F. Stewart will be honorary ohairmen of the conference. |
