Show Bid Awarded for Drainage of Lehi High School Site Gibbons and Reed Co. of Salt Lake City was awarded the bid for drainage of the Lehi High School site at a special meeting- of the Board of Education of Alpine School District. Fred Needham, representing the high school architect, ar-chitect, and a representative of Hodson, Fuhriman and Associates, engineering consultants, met with the Board and advised them to accept ac-cept the bid of $57,579.70, even though the figure -was higher than the engineer's estimate. It was pointed out that the bid would prcbably be reduced by $5,100 because be-cause there would be 7,000 cubic yards of back fill instead of 9,000 cubic yards, as previously estimated. The Board approved a revision of the school calendar for 1957-58. The change became necessary when the starting of school was delayed a week upon the request of the farmers of the district. The new calendar calls for the Christmas vacation to commence on Saturday, Satur-day, Dec. 21, 1957 and to end Thursday, January 2, 1958. Spring vacation will be one-half day on Wednesday, March 5 and all day on Thursday and Friday, March 6, and 7, 1958. Junior High School commencement exercises will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 1958 as previously announced. Pel-mission was granted to Mario Mar-io Bussio of Orem High School to attend the national Future Farmer Far-mer convention, which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri, Oct- 14 17. Mr. Bussio will act as one of three advisors to a delegation of approximately 60 Future Farmers who will attend from Utah. Plans for the establishment of a curriculum library to be housed in the distriot administration office of-fice were discussed and approved by the Board. The library will enable en-able the various curriculum groups of the distriot to have a place in which to meet and study their problems, with the necessary books and other supplies close at hand. It is anticipated that a copy of all textbooks used in the district plus many reference books will be available avail-able for teacher use. |
