Show Public Hearing Develops Into Lively Session The public hearing relative to "Curb, Gutter and Sidewalk Improvement Im-provement District No. 1957-2" developed into a lively session last Monday night. The hearing was held at the City Hall, with council coun-cil members present and under the direction of Mayor Edward C. Roberts. Rob-erts. Some minor protests were registered reg-istered by a few property owners against the entire proposal, but these were not of sufficient importance im-portance to endanger the project as a whole. Most of the contention centered around the oonstmction of irrigation irriga-tion facilities Where long established estab-lished ditches are in use in front of privately (owned property. A few citizens present objected to paying their pro-rated share of the overall project, since the irrigation irri-gation water was of no use to them. Mayor Roberts advised these citizens that a plan might be worked out wherein the property owners would be charged for only the pipe and the installation done at city expense. The Mayor also reported that a study of 'the complete project is being made by the bonding company, com-pany, the city 'attorney, the city engineer and the city council. Out of this study, it is hoped, a plan will be evolved by means of which those who want curb and gutter and sidewalk can have it. |
