Show Civil Defense Meet Stresses Being Always Prepared Successful from every angle was the Civil Defense meeting and get-acquainted get-acquainted party held Friday evening even-ing at the Pioneer Relic Hall, where officers and wardens heard reports and instructions as to their duties. Reports on the Civil Defense convention held recently in Salt Lake City were made by Mrs. David Da-vid Waid, welfare chairman and Mrs. S. Christensen, transportation transporta-tion chairman of Pleasant Grove. Mrs. H. S. Walker told of the needs of civil defense and instructed wardens war-dens as to their duties, stressing that the best way to promote peace is by home folks being prepared. Mrs. Walker also passed out booklets on Home Protection Exercises, Ex-ercises, these to be delivered by block wardens to all homes. Mr. Nohr of Provo told how the wardens helped protect Denmark during World War II. Mrs. Walker then introduced officers and district dis-trict wardens as follows: Woman Civil Defense Director, Mrs. Harold S. Walker; deputy director, Mrs. Ray S. Merrill; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Eldon Johnson; John-son; publicity, Mrs. H. E. Bradley Brad-ley and Mrs. Martin Peterson. District wardens, 1st ward, Mrs. Robert Sutch; 2nd ward, Mrs. Lawrence Rawlings , 3rd ward, Mrs. Theodore Rees, 4th ward, Mrs. M. S. Christianson, 5th ward, Mrs. Elroy II. West, 6th ward, Mrs. Glen Newman, Grove ward, Mrs. Max Hu:.saker, and Manila ward, Mrs. Merrill Allen. A social hour was spent visiting visit-ing and getting acquainted and enjoying en-joying refreshments -with Mrs. Max Hpnsaker in charge. Mrs. Robert Sutch and Mrs. Elroy H. West assisted in serving while all district wardens contirbuted. |
