Show Luciiie Walker Candidate For 1954 Mother Mrs. Harold S. Walker was cho-sen cho-sen to represent the Timpanogos ; First District. Federate Women's Clubs as candidate for 195-1 Mother Moth-er of the Year, according: to an announcement made by Mrs. S. Sherman Christenson, district chairman. Mrs. Walker is a prominent civic, educational and church lead- j er of Pleasant Grove and is well known in Utah County. We feel that in Mrs. Walker we have an able representative for our state, should she be chosen for the honor, hon-or, Mrs. Christensen stated. Mrs. Walker holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Utah, and has had special training in interior decoration from a school in Virginia. She has taught school for a number of years and through her leadership has given years of service for civic betterment. better-ment. A member of the LDS church, Mrs. Walker has worked in all the auxiliary organizations as class leader and executive officer, through a period of 25 years. She has been an officer also of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers in local lo-cal camps and in county work and through this organization gave valued aid in the establishment and maintenance of the Pioneer Museum in Salt Lake City. A member of the Provo Chapter, Chap-ter, League of Utah Writers and a state director of the League, Mrs. Walker has written dialogues, and articles which have been published in local and state organs. She has also had many years of experience fn newspaper work. For her many hours of service given freely in home decoration classes and lectures lec-tures and book reviews, is perhaps where she is best known and loved. Her accomplishments are all the more significant due to fact that she has suffered for many years with a blood disease and her activities ac-tivities have all been done with great personal effort. Her often (expressed philosophy is that "It is better to live a few years and accomplish much than to live long- er and accomplish little." She is the wife of Harold S. Walker, a former LDS bishop and scout leader. They are the parents of three children, Mrs. Adrian Thomas, former newspaper woman, wom-an, now of Salt Lake City; Stanley Stan-ley Walker, communications representative rep-resentative for the telephone company com-pany in Salt Lake City and Carole Car-ole Walker, former LDS missionary mission-ary now employed in Salt Lake jcity. |
