Show V. ' ' 1 T v : - - Edward C. Roberts Named 'Young Man of the Year' Mayor Edward C. Roberts was designated "Young Man of the Year for 1957" at the annual membership mem-bership banquet held Wednesday evening, February 27 at 'the Tim-panogos Tim-panogos Stake recreation hall. The citation and a bronze plaque were presented by Ted Jones, president of the local Jaycee Jay-cee organization. The designation, based on church and community service, is an annual presentation made by Jaycee clubs nation-wide. Mr. Roberts, son of Mi's. Florence Flor-ence Roberts of this city, came to Pleasant Grove after completing complet-ing his military service about 14 yeai's ag'o. He was employed in the construction con-struction business and later managed man-aged the Texaco Sen-vice station at First East and Center Street. About two years ago he built and began the operation o fthe Utoco Service station at First West and Center Street. A few months ago, Mr. Roberts sold the Utoco Service station and since then he has been engaged in the rock orushing andl gravel contracting business. Ever sinoe coming to Pleasant Grove, Mayor Roberts has been interested and active in the civic and religious activities of this community. He has served on the city council, and in the Bishopric of the Fourth Ward. He is currently current-ly a member of the Lions Club, Chamber cf Commerce, and the Timpanogos Stake High Council and is serving his first term as mayor of Pleasant Grove. He married Thiel Anderson in 1948 and the couple have three children, Randy 6, Steven, 5 and Dan, 2. |
