Show CENTRAL SCHOOL NEWS VISITING DAY Ninety-five percent of the students stu-dents of Central School were represented rep-resented by their parents at the visiting day last Friday. Counseling Counsel-ing time was arranged between the teachers and all parents present. pres-ent. PTA officers and room mothers cooperated with the teachers in making the day a distinct success. JUNIOR POLICE Members of Pleasant -Grove's Police Force have sworn in 48 girls and boys of the Central School's Sixth grades to act as Junior Police. The young officers will perform their duties on an alternating basis for the remainder of the school year. EDUCATION WEEK In harmony with the objectives of National Education Week, Central Cen-tral School teachers have been stressing the qualifications and responsibilities of good citizenship. citizen-ship. Following are four news reports written by the student in the grades as indicated: Mr. Brock's Sixth Grade We are studying- about the American Am-erican Public School System. Among other things we're discus-ing discus-ing how the schools are supported, how schools began in the United States, something of the purpose and function of Alpine School District. Some of the duties of school board members, etc. In connection with this study, we heard the Forbes School broadcast broad-cast over the radio, on Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon at 1:15 p.m. We intend in-tend to write a brief history of the Central School. A committee is also al-so preparing a report on Horace Mann. For Parents Day, samples of our work were shown to our parents. In addition, a form letter was prepared by the teacher and filled in by the students pertaining to school activities and how they were using what they had learned in their daily life. Mrs. Ash's Sixth Grade The sixth grade students have been playing competitive ball this month. Good sportsmanship and lots fo fun have been reported by all the boys and girls. Thirteen letters have been sent to students in foreign lands. Other Oth-er letters will be written by students stu-dents who would like to find a new pen pal. Mrs. White's Sixth Grade On Thursday, Nov. 11, our fifth grade made a study of why this day is so important to us. We are learning the two poems "In Flanders Flan-ders Fields," and "America's Answer." An-swer." We are hoping we will always al-ways appreciate what those who fought have done for us and that we will do our part to keep America, Am-erica, free, as they did. Mr. Bearnson's Sixth Grade We are studying the world and its people in our social studies. We are each giving a short report about the countries our forefathers forefath-ers came from; also we are making mak-ing a nationality chart, using a flag to' represent each nation the child's forefathers came from. |
