Show Educational Tour Planned by Alpine Teachers The intermediate grade teachers of the Alpine School District are planning a trip around Utah Lake for Saturday, November 13, to study the topography and the plant life. They have acquired the services ser-vices of Dr. Eldon Beck of the BYU and he will act as guide for the tour. Dr. Beck will provide background back-ground material in a historical and geological way, to better acquaint the teachers with the area. This tour has been arranged to aid the entire Alpine school district dis-trict in its search for applicable content material. Those who participate par-ticipate in the tour will also have the responsibility of adapting the information presented to them to the level of the children they teach. Photographs will be taken and colored slides will be made of interesting in-teresting points along the way. Pictures will also be enlarged for use with the material that will be compiled. It is the hope of those who are responsible for this project, Iowa Hall and Herbert W. Gilbert, that both material and pictures will comprise a journal of the trip. This journal will be available for use in the classrooms of the Alpine School District, to orient the youngsters with the environment in which they live. The trip is one hundred miles in length and will take up most of the day. I |
