Show Adams Dairy Awarded Gold Certificates for Milk Excellence Kay Adams, owner-manager of the local Adams Dairy, has received receiv-ed two Gold certificates awarded for the excellence of his milk. The awards were made March 4, by the Utah State Agricultural College. Col-lege. Milk samples from the leading commercial dairies in the state were examined by the dairy experts ex-perts at the College and rated on fat content, bacterial count, flavor flav-or and sedimentation. On a score card with a maximum of 100 points, two samples of Mr. Adams milk were scored 95.6 and 95.1, respectively. The two samples were of "Market Milk" and "Homogenized "Homogen-ized Market Milk." One hundred and twenty-seven samples were submitted this year as compared to one hundred and twenty-four in 1951. Sixty six plants were represented this year. Sixty six of the one hundred and twenty seven samples -were homog enized and sixty-one were unho-mogenized. unho-mogenized. Sixteen of the unho-mogemzed unho-mogemzed samples were specials, such as all Jersey, Golden Guernsey, Guern-sey, premium, etc. Nineteen of the sixty six homogenized samples were special samples. Only two of the samples showed positive phosphatase tests, indicating indica-ting that correct pasteurization procedures were not used. These samples were frorn the same plant. These samples would have received certificates if they had not shown phosphatase tests. The high quality of Utah's Market Mar-ket Milk indicates a job well done by the dairymen of Utah. It reflects re-flects the cooperation among the producer, processor and sanitarian sanitar-ian with each doing their share to give the consumers of the state high quality market milk. Mr. Adams is to be congratulated congrat-ulated on the high quality of his market milk. |
