Show Students Visit at Pioneer Museum In Pleasant Grove Climaxing a season of interesting interest-ing activity at the Pioneer Museum Mu-seum and Log Cabin, the DUP of Pleasant Grove played hostess during the past two weeks to nearly four hundred children of the Fourth grades and remedial reading groups of Grovecrest and Central School. The historical tours were under un-der the direction of teachers Fred Payor, LuJean Aiken and Edna Newman of Grovecrest; Gale Farnsworth, Elaine Hicken, Don Hansen and trainees from BYU, Dorothy Walker and Barbara Warren. Also with the Grovecrest group was Principal Thomas Lar-sen. Lar-sen. The classes, which came on different dif-ferent days, were seated in the museum and log cabin and given lectures illustrated by relics showing how the -early residents of Pleasant Grovei built their houses, lighted them, how they cooked their meals, spun and wove their clothing, how they washed and ironed; methods of harvesting crops, etc. At the museum many of the children were able to recognize among the photographs of pioneers pio-neers hanging on the walls, their own ancestors. Acting as guides for the tours were Mrs. Nora Macfarlane and Mrs. Lucille Walker of the Museum Mu-seum committee. Mrs. Walker reports that visitors vis-itors estimated at about 960 have enjoyed the museum this year. They included church and school groups from Lehi, American Fork Provo, Lindon and Pleasant Grove. |
