Show VKCIMGS LOSE LAST GAME TO CHAMPS A band of Uintah Utes from out Vernal oay converged on PG ball park last Friday afternoon after-noon and war-clubbed the Vikings Vik-ings 36-6 in an interesting but one-sided skirmish. The Vikes fought valiantly to quel the Redskin uprising and continued to make a g-ame of it throughout. The odds against them were too great, however. The Utes not only won tte game but walked away witli the Region Re-gion VII championship as well. They were neither beaten nor tied during the 1959 season. The boys fim Uintah go on to the Class B quarterfinals next Friday in a game with East Carbon. Car-bon. The Utes scored in each of the four quarters and seemed willing and able to grind out yardage when needed most. They scored first early in the first quarter when they trapped PG's Charley Buckner back of his goal line for ' a two-point safety. The first Uintah touchdown came after a down the field march following a kickoff. Dick Roberts carried over from the PG 15, the point-after try failed and it was 8-0 for the Utes. Just a few plays later the Utes went over again on a pass to Dick Lee from 12 yards out. Lee converted con-verted to make it 15-0. In the second quarter Uintah scored again following a pass interception in-terception and Lee converted once more for a 22-0 advantage. During the third quarter things seemed to take ' a turn for the Vikings until Roberts grabbed a PG pass on the Viking 28 and went down the sidelines for an-, other six-pointer. Lee's conversion conver-sion made it 29-0. With nothing to lose and something some-thing to gain, the Vikings threw caution to the winds in the final canto and made things interesting interest-ing for all concerned. Eddie Lewis Lew-is carried on a fake kick gamble on fourth down and ate up considerable con-siderable Ute territory. Buckner passed to Drew Long who went to the Uintah 3 and John Lott went over for the touchdown. The conversion failed and it was 29-6. To close out the game and the season Roberts scored again after taking thet PG .kickoff and Lee's conversion made the final score 36-6 for the Utes.
