Four thousand American Postmasters attended with 42 coming from Utah. The purpose of the convention, according to Mr. Mills, was to get instructions from federal post office officials relative to methods meth-ods of improving postal sea-vice. "In the not too distant future mail between distant points in the U.S. will be dispatched by missile and next day delivery will be accomplished to any city in the country," Mr. Mills said. Considerable attention at the convention was devoted to the control of obscene and pornographic porno-graphic material currently being sent though the mails. Mr. Mills stated that after all the solution' rests with those who receive the unsolicited, objectionable material, mater-ial, since first class mail cannot be opened by Post office personnel. person-nel. People who receive this material mater-ial through the mails should return re-turn it together with the original container to the post office from which it was delivered. "Only in this way can those responsible be arrested and prosecuted," Mr. Mills emphasized. |
