Show Gunther Guest Speaker at Lions Meeting Orville Gunther was the guest speaker at the regular Lion's Club meeting hold at the Alpine Villa Grill on November 19. He spoke to the membership on the "Reponsibilities of Citizenship' in in a Democracy." Mr. Gunther explained esprc-ially esprc-ially how the rights of the people in our country are paramount and that power extends from the citizen citi-zen up to thoir elected leaders and not from the leaders down, as in a dictatorship. He gave some interesting background history so well represented repre-sented in the architecture of the Greeks, Romans, and Christians. He made an interesting explanation explan-ation of the basic ideals of the civic and religious contributions as pictured in the architecture of our State C.'ipitol. The beautiful Corinthian pillars pil-lars of Greek origin, tied together togeth-er with the Paman arches and supporting the Christian - like dome. He also mentioned the great democratic contributions of the Greek City State, the P-oman Government and the Christian ideals, all tied together to embody em-body in the architecture of our capitol the basic rights of the citizen. At the Nov. 19 meeting, Albert Al-bert Potter was inducted as a new member. Mr. Potter works in the chemical department at Geneva Steel Works. |
