Show Benson Names Warnick to Research and Advisory Board Merrill N. Warnick, Pleasant Grove, immediate past president of the American Dairy Association, Associa-tion, has been named by Secretary Secre-tary 'of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson to Department of Agriculture's Agri-culture's dairy research and marketing mar-keting advisory committee, it was announced last Friday. Next meetings of the committee commit-tee will be held in Washington, D.C., Dec. 15-17. A USDA communication com-munication said "the counsel of the committee is sought on all research programs of the Department De-partment that are related to dairy production, utilization, and marketing, mar-keting, and also on marketing service and educational programs athorized by the Agricultural Marketing Act." Mr. Warnick has long been recognized as one of America's leaders among dairy producers. He served as president of the ADA during- 1953-56, and previous to tliat time was for 16 years president of the ADA of Utah. He current ly serves as a member mem-ber of the board of directors of Hiland Dairymen's Association. Mr. Wao iiick helped organize the Utah S! ate Dairy Federation, which is now the American Dairy Association of Utah. He served as vice provident of the organization organ-ization for two year3 and as president pres-ident for 16 years. His civic activities are many and varied. He f.erved eight yeara as a memb?r of the board of trustees of the Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural College at Logan. He is also an outstanding 4-H Club leader and is one of the few wearers wear-ers of the Diamond Clover, a pin awarded by the national office for his 20 years of service. In 1953 Mr. Warnick was named nam-ed by Secretary of Agriculture Benson to the ninety-man dairy Industry task committee. Later he was appointed a member of a ten-man committee to select the location for the nation's $19 million mil-lion animal research laboratory. Mr. Warnick has been saluted by Utah's Future Fanners of America, with a plaque as "U-tah's "U-tah's Dairy Farmer of the Year." Other civic activities of Mr. Warnick at various times have included being president and director dir-ector of the Utah -Wasatch Dairy; secretary and treasurer and director dir-ector of the Geneva Dairy Assoc! As-soc! atijn; director of tthe Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Chamber of Commerce. He is currently Pleasant Grove Lions Club president. He has also sei-ved on numerous other agricultural agri-cultural and civic committees. . |
