Show Former Resident Killed in Orem Traffic Accident Mrs. Lena Y. Clegg of Vineyard Vine-yard and a former resident of Pleasant Grove, diad in a Provo hospital early Monday after be- ing struck by an automobile on U. 114 in front of the Vineyard Chapel. She was 59 years of age. Mrs. Clegg will be remembered by Pleasant Grove residents as the former Lena Pearson, wife of Dr. Allen Pearson, a practicing- dentist in this community. Mrs. Clegg was thrown from the highway over to the front gate of her home, just across the street from the chapel. She suffered a fractured back, pelvis, fractured left leg, and shock. She died at 5 a.m. Monday. Driver of the car was listed as James Beinell Jensen, about 55, 359 North 6th East, Spanish Fork. He told investigating officers he did not see the woman until he heard his wife say there was a woman on the highway. The Jensens were southbound enroute to Spanish Fork from Salt Lake Cty when the accident acci-dent occurred. Mrs. Lena Young Clegg was born April 22, 1899 at Alta (Teton (Te-ton Valley). Wyo., a daughter of George Spencer and Mary Rigby Young. She attended schools at Driggs, Idaho; Ricks College and the old Brigham Young College in Logan. She taught school for several years in Idaho. She married Ernest Allen Pearson Pear-son Aug. 6, 1923, in Uie Salt Lake Temple. They later were divorced. She married Lewis Clegg Jan. 15, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.' Survivors lncmde her husband, hus-band, Vineyard; four sons and daughters, Robert Allen Pearson, Los Angeles; Mrs. Dale (Phyllis) McDonald, Long Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Pwex (Lucille) Eastman, Los Angeles; Elder Richard Pearson, Pear-son, currently in the Northern States Mission. Also the following step-children: Floyd W. Clegg and Mrs. Dariell (Norma) Jensen, both of Orem; Darrell Cleg'g and Ana-bel Ana-bel Clegg, both of Vineyard; Udell Clegg, Murray; Mrs. William (Luana) Fresh, La Crescenta, Calif. |
