Driggs, president American Pioneer Trails Association, and Explorer Scouts Dennis Den-nis Ercanbrack, Dale Warburton, Gene Colledge, Duane Atkinson Atkin-son and Cloyd Christiansen, Scout Commissioner, were present at dedication of Monument marking- corner of old Fort Wall. Monument Dedicated Marking Corner of Old Fort Wall in P.G. An idea conceived many years ago was consumated at 5:30 p.m. last Saturday when the large stone monument located at the corner of Second East and Third South was dedicated. The marker and the attached bronze placque designates the southeast corner of the Old Fort Wall, erected by Pleasant Grove's Pioneer residents as a defense against the Indians. Smaller stone markers have been placed at the comers of Third South and Second Sec-ond West, Second West and First North and First North and Third East. The erection of the markers has been accomplished by the united efforts of the Explorer Scouts of the Tinipanogos District, Dis-trict, under the chairmanship of Cloyd Christiansen, District Scout Commissioner. William C. Smith and Sherman Varney also rendered render-ed valuable service. The bronze placque with the historical inscription was donated by the Utah Pioneer Trails Association, As-sociation, through the courtesy cf Elder George Q. Morris, of the LDS Council of the Twelve. The dedicatory program consisted con-sisted of the following numbers: with explorer Duane Atkinson as Master of Ceremonies. Driggs, president, National Pioneer Trails Association. |
