Show legSon Convention Proves Successful Sn Pleasant Grove The District IV American Legion Le-gion and Auxiliary convention held at the Third-Sixth Ward recreation hall last Saturday night was well attended and helpful to members of the 14 communities represented. Current and long-range activities of the huge veterans organization were outlined and explained by the visiting speakers. Post 70 Commander Milton Adamson conducted the opening exercises which included a flag ceremony, patriotic music by Mr. and Mrs. Warren P. Kirk and the singing of the National Anthem, An-them, led by Mrs. Reva Ahman. The sepai-ate sessions were conducted con-ducted by District Commander Don Mack Dalton and District Auxiliary President Thelma Mc-Kell Mc-Kell of Spanish Fork. Visiting -Department of Utah Legion officers who attended wore Lars A. Ward, Salt Lake City, Commander; Clark Cheney, Ogden, National Committeeman; Dean Hall, Adjutant and Art S. Horsley, Service officer. The Department of Utah Auxiliary Aux-iliary was represented by Ernestine Ernes-tine Kallas, Ogden, president; Ruby Famswrorth, Salt Lake City, secretary and Royetta K. Horsley, poppy chairman. At the separtae session for the men, Legionaire A. B. Gibson received re-ceived a citation for 40 years of membership in the organization. Mr. Gibson was a charter member mem-ber of Nephi Post No. 1, organized or-ganized as the first Utah Post in 1919. Following the scheduled meetings meet-ings a social was held at which light refreshments were served by the local Unit 70 Auxiliary under the direction of Mrs. Karl Banks, president. |
