Show Over 350 Entries Sn Fall Flower Show At P.G. Community Fair The fall flower show in connection connect-ion with the Pleasant Grove Community Com-munity Fair last Friday was one of this community's most successful success-ful shows to date. There were over 350 entries arranged in the thirteen thir-teen different sections. Many of the people who entered flowers in the show were new participants and in this the Garden Club feels that the shows are achieving their aim Of stimulating interest in growing better flowers among people of our community. The theme "The Garden Party" was in harmony with the purpose of the fair which is held annually to commemorate the birthday anniversay of Pleasant Grove. And the theme was effectively carried out in va'rious ways, including inclu-ding the center of interest a beautifully decorated birthday cake wtih "103rd Anniversary of Pleasant Grove" written on it. This cake was awarded as a bonus prize at the end of the show to Mrs. Willis Banks. Through the efforts of the club members a plant and baked goods was conducted to obtain funds to help the club in its project of landscaping the grounds at the city park. "Queen of the Show" award went to Mrs. Gwen Adams, for a trio of perfect giant marigolds. Sweepstakes winners in the various sections were: Arrangements, Avis Smith; Petunias, Pe-tunias, Diane Warnick; Asters, Mrs. Abe Jones; Zinnias, Ruth Cobbley; Marigolds, Gwen Adams; Flowers House Plants, Mrs. Abe Jones; Foliage, House Plants, Dora Young; Gladiolus, Mike Wadley; Dahlias, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Clark; Other Annuals, Marjory Ellis; Per-enials, Per-enials, Helen Radmall; Chrysanthemums, Chrysan-themums, Ruth Cobbley; Roses, Cora Bezzant. Prizes for these awards were donated by Radmall Hardware, Ben Frankin Store and the Garden Club. |
