Show Another Fallacy Revealed, Rabbits Don't Like Carrots CLEVELAND, O.-Br'er Rabbit doesn't have a yen for carrots another fallacy falls apart, so scientists scien-tists report. In tests with a new rabbit repellent re-pellent Br'er Rabbit showed so little lit-tle interest in carrots that the researchers re-searchers discontinued using the food. Far more popular were beans, lettuce, corn, tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. In tests at the University of Florida Flor-ida the new repellent greatly reduced re-duced the amount of damage in vegetable and flower gardens. Cottontails Cot-tontails that nibbled at and damaged dam-aged 80 to 100 per cent of the lettuce let-tuce plants in untreated patches, steered clear of lettuce that had been sprayed or dusted, the scientist scien-tist reported. |
