Show Housewives Donate Curtain Rods to Korea War Effort KOREA The lowly curtain rod has gone to war. Occupation housewives in Japan threw their curtain rods into the air war against North Korea when a critical shortage developed in the supply of pipes necessary to extend ex-tend fuel lines to the large wing-tip wing-tip tanks to give the jets extra time over the target area. The demand was met by stripping dependents' homes of tubular Japanese Jap-anese manufactured rods, which happened to meet exactly the Air Force requirements. "It cuts down a little on our privacy," one Air Force wife said. "But this isn't a private war, either." |
