Show MELWOOD WALL Private Melwood Wall has recently re-cently been assigned to Australia, after serving several months in North Africa and Hawaii. He entered service early in the war, enlisting at Fort Douglas, Utah, Ut-ah, on February 28, 1911. At that lime he was assigned to Tacoma, ashington, where he received his basic trailing. His battalion was later transferred transfer-red to California, and ordered overseas, over-seas, and stationed in the Hawaiian Hawai-ian Islands. After five months there, he was snet to North Africa, Af-rica, where he remained for eight months. Recently he was returned to Hawaii, remaining only a short time until he was transfered to Australia. A son of Julia Elizabeth Zufelt and the late Joseph Wall, Melwood was born at Melbourne, Unitah County, Wyoming, on November 4, 1916. His father died when Melwood was a small boy, and his time since has been divided with his sister at Mt. Emmons and his mother, Mrs. Laron Fillmore of Pleasant Grove. He completed his -sopohmore year at Mt. Emmons, Utah where he was active in ward functions. He participated in ward dramatics served ser-ved as ward teacher several years and is an Elder in the L. D. S. Church. A pleasing personality, and a willingness to serve, whenever and wherever called have 'been his chief characteristics. |
