Show THE EDITOR'S COLUMN When Noah sailed the well-known blue He had his troubles, just like you; For days and days he drove the Ark Before he found a place to park. Author Unknown to Us. I That goes for American Fork, I where parking space on Main street is at a premium almost any time I of day. Trouble is, a big share of the cars which stand in front of the business places all day belong to the business men and employes .- themselves, while the shoppers are obliged to hunt for parking space. Nearly everyone that works downtown down-town is guilty of all-day parking on Main street (we e, too) , but every - one knows better. 7 At various times, half-hearted attempts at-tempts to correct the condition have been made by civic clubs and the city, but all have fizzled out. We suggest that a real, workable plan be advanced by someone it doesn't matter by whom, as long as it gets results. One thing sure it'll take a lot of cooperation from business people and their employes to put it over. When a plumber makes a mistake he charges for it. When a lawyer makes a mistake "1 he has the chance to try the case j aa over again. When a carpenter makes a mistake mis-take it is just what he expected. When a doctor makes a mistake i he buries it. ' When a judge makes a mistake it becomes a law of the land. When a preacher makes a mistake nobody knows tne difference. But when a printer makes a mis-j mis-j take, GOOD NIGHT! There's nothing like a good, long walk, of ten or fifteen miles a day. Take it from Elgen Lee and Bill Holdsworth, mail carriers for Uncle Sam. On his daily rounds, Lee cov-! cov-! ers 13 miles not counting the dis-J dis-J tances from the sidewalk to the mailbox at each place. He has been on, toting the mails for eleven years in now, and at the rate of 78 miles a ere week he has walked over 44,000 at miles. That's nearly twice around its, the world! Holdsworth walks six E- miles a day, and has been on the job for the past eight years. That comes to about 15,000 miles. For relaxation off the job, Elgen walks to the lake and fishes, goes hunting, or takes a long walk. Bill has a farm to take care of on the side, so he gets his exercise following follow-ing a plow. Jesse P. Crookston, who delivers the rural mail in American Fork precinct outside the city limits and in Alpine, also has done a little ) traveling in connection with his job. He covers a route of 31 miles daily, which amounts to 186 miles a week, and 9,672 miles a year. In his eighteen eigh-teen years on the job, this amounts to approximately 174,000 miles.
