Show Funeral Held For Everett Laursen Funeral services conducted by Bishop Reed O. Walker of the Second ward, were conducted Saturday Sat-urday at 2 p.m. in the ward chapel for Everett Laursen, a veteran of World War II. The opening number was an organ or-gan solo, played by A. R. Overlade. Invocation was offered by Millen D. Radmall. First speaker was Robert Marrott Mar-rott of the Second ward bishopric, a former neighbor of the Laursen family. He paid tribute to the family fam-ily for their honesty and neighbor-liness neighbor-liness and to the departed for his skill in his chosen profession as a blacksmith, and stressed the fact that Christ opened the door to salvation and that we can find it through prayer. Burton H. Adams chose as his text, Judge not that ye be not judged, expressing the thought that God alone has the power to judge. Mrs. May R. Walker and Mrs. Margaret Devereaux sang 2 duets, "Jesus My Savior" and "In the Garden". They were accompanied by Mrs. Mary Nelson. After closing remarks by Bishop Walker, Ernest P. Smith, also of the bishopric pronounced the benediction, ben-ediction, and President Lewis E. Olpin offered the dedication at the graveside in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery. This was followed by a rifle salute by members of American Legion Post No. 70, who I also acted as pallbearers. They were Nello Nielson, A. B. Gibson, Loren Brady, William J. Peterson, Glen Matthews and Bryant Hicks. |
