The appearance ap-pearance of Main street has brought forth much favorable comment. It is unfortunate that some of our streets present a very different picture. pic-ture. Favorable weather conditions have caused a prolific growth of weeds on some of our streets and lots. The city has mowers cutting the weeds in the near vicinity of the roads. However, it is the responsibility responsi-bility of the property owner to keep his sidewalks clean. Some of our walks are practically impassable, and much clothing is ruined while trying to wade through weeds and rubbish along walks. . Many authorities think that hay fever is increasing in our western country, due largely to the weedy condition of lots and fields, the pollen from the weeds being a source of much of the trouble. From a civic and health point of view, can we not attack this problem a little more vigorously? A clean lot and front adjacent to property is a source of pride, both to the city and property owner, and certainly enhances the value of the owner's lot. L. B. ADAMSON, Mayor n |
