Show Timpanogos Cave Opens On Easter Sunday Easter Sunday, April 21st, marks the official opening of Timpanogos Cave. All facilities at the Cave and the Camp Grounds are at the disposal dis-posal of the public. There is no place which offers a better Easter outing than does Timpanogos Cave. Free camp grounds, free fire wood, free stoves, plenty of pure water, tables and benches, and automobile parking space. Timpanogos Cave National Monu- a mining prospector. This discovery however, was not made known at that time, and in August, 1921, It was found again by a hiking party. Thru the efforts of a few public spirited citizens of American Fork and Pleasant Grove, together with the Forest Service, the Cave was soon after opened for the public. Since that time it has been supervised super-vised by the Wasatch National Forest, For-est, through a local committee, known as the Timpanogos Cave Outdoor Out-door Committee. On July 1st, 1934, the National Monument was transferred trans-ferred from the National Forest supervision to the National Park Service. The Timpanogos Cave Outdoor Out-door Committee is still responsible for operations. Timpanogos Cave was accidentally discovered in 1915 toy a small son of ageways, and the entire intenoi oi the Cave has been illuminated by electric lights and spot lights. Situated at an elevation of 6,776 feet and 1,200 feet above the canyon road slumbers the crystal palace, walled with myriads of glistening rock icicles and floored with mystic altars of various colors and shapes and inclosing the great heart of Mt. Timpanogos. Nowhere exists more of nature's handiwork of art than is found in the 1200 foot interior of Timpanogos Cave. |
