Show 'stake conference, annual conventions to start saturday ME3IBEKS OF GENERAL BOARD TO TALK AT SESSIONS Conference conventions of the Alpine stake Relief society and Mutual Improvement associations will be held Saturday and Sunday in connection with the regular stake quarterly conference, in the stake tabernacle here. A number of special and generjil sessions are scheduled for each organization. or-ganization. The regular stake general gen-eral session will be held Sunday at 2 p. m., President Clifford E. Young announced this week. Representing the general church board of the M. I. A., Axel A. Mad-sen, Mad-sen, Weiner Kiepe, Philo Farns-worth, Farns-worth, Marba C. Josephson, and Vella Wetzel will attend the conference-convention. They will speak at both special and general meetings. meet-ings. Beginning at 7:30 p. m. Saturday, M. I. A. and Relief Society stake and ward boards and class leaders will hold special meetings. The two organizations will meet conjointly at 10 a. m. Sunday. Members Mem-bers of the general boards will take up the time with topics of interest. The themes, "Ye Are the Salt of the Earth", and "The Road to Happiness" Happi-ness" will be developed through their talks. Special musical numbers num-bers are being arranged under direction di-rection of Mrs. Delbert Chipman of the Relief society and Miss Alice Parker and Clare Christensen of the M. I. A. The regular quarterly conference session for the public will be held at 2 p. m., under direction of the stake presidency. Sunday evening, at 7:30 o'clock, the Youth Conference will convene. The theme of the meeting is the M. I. A. theme: "By love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled fulfill-ed in one word, even In this: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.' " Galatians 5:13-14. Opening exercises will be under direction di-rection of the stake superintendent of the Y. M. M. I. A., Clarence A. Grant, and the stake president of the Y. W. M. I. A., Mrs. W. R. Halli-day. Halli-day. Phil Jensen, stake M Men president, will introduce the theme and present the features that follow. fol-low. A quartet of Miss Lue Groes-beck, Groes-beck, Miss Fern Robinson, Kenneth Robinson and Clare Christensen, will sing "Service" by Cadman; "Our Faith in Youth" will be discussed by a member of the Y. W. M. I. A. general gen-eral board; instrumental music and other numbers in keeping with the theme, will be given. Two-minute talks will be given by each of the following: Geneve Beck, Bee-Hive Girl, "Joy Through Service"; Don Devey, Boy Scout, "Daily Good Turn"; Louise Hayward, Junior, "Helpfulness in the Home"; John Walker, Explorer, "Service Through Safeguarding Others"; Merline Gardner, Gleaner, "Living the Word of Wisdom and Helping My Friends to do So"; Mac Groes-beck, Groes-beck, M Man, "Comrade Service In Developing L. D. S. Personality". A general board member of the Y. M. M. I. A. will discuss "New Horizons for Youth". o |
