Show o Clubsters Take Many Prizes In County Contests Capturing honors and prizes in many divisions, 4-H club members put this district "on the map" in clubw-ork, at the Utah county fair last week. The club members carried away a large share of honors in the various individual and group contests, and in several instances qualified to represent rep-resent the county in the Utah State Fair later this fall. Exhibit winners, who qualified for the State Fair, include the first-year first-year foods club of Manila, of which .Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick and Miss Delia Radmall are leaders, and the third-year foods club of Manila, led by Miss Helen Warnick. The club led by Miss Warnick also was the winner in the Ball group exhibit, qualifying for the State Fair. The Manila third-year foods club also won first place in the Kerr group exliibit. This was county competition, and was not for a place in the State Fair. The Fourth-Year clothing club, of which Mrs. Beulah Bradley is leader, lead-er, entered an exhibit of four dresses and two scrapbooks, which were chosen for the State Fair. Jean Anderson, of Mrs. Mabell Jense's sewing club placed first for a dress made by herself. Her dress, together with a photograph of herself her-self in the costume, will go to the State Fair, for competition there. Miss Anderson also won fourth-place honors for the healthiest club member, mem-ber, being within nine points of the first place winner. Carol Clark and Ina Claire Hayes of the Home Science club won first and second honors, respectively, in the club style dress revue, in the best dress class. Fay Beal won third for sports dress. Joyce Clark, of the first-year sewing club of which Mrs. Jense is leader, won third place in the night-dress division. divi-sion. The foods club, led by Mrs. Iva Carlson and Mrs. Ethel W. For this display, an article was entered by each girl of the club, to go into the group exhibit. Four-H club workers and leaders of the district expressed themselves as well pleased with the showing made by the local clubs in the fair. County-wide recognition is expected to stimulate clubwork here in coming com-ing seasons. |
